WowWee Alive Lion & Tiger Cubs + Giveaway!

Earlier this year, my kids and I watched the movie Born Free on TCM.  Ever since, I’ve had the song stuck in my head, and my daughter has wanted a baby lion of her very own.   That’s obviously not going to happen, but the latest from WowWee is pretty darn close.

WowWee’s robotic toys have always been a big hit in our house, but these new, fur-covered cuties might be the favorite.

Alive Cubs are cuddly soft animal friends that respond to your touch.  You can choose a lion or a tiger, and they’re equally adorable.  One look and both you and your child will fall in love, but with so many ways to interact, a WowWee Alive Cub is much more than a pretty face.

Blinking eyes and a moving mouth help bring your cub to life, but that’s just the beginning.  Scratch his head or pet him and you’ll be rewarded with a variety of facial expressions and baby animal sounds.  Turn him over and then sit him upright to see his different reactions.  Just be careful not to annoy him or he might give you a good growl!  If you do manage to make him angry, hold him in your arms, give him some love, and he’ll purr like a kitten for you.

This next feature is mostly for the moms:  adjustable volume!  A three-second press of a button on the cub’s right ear allows you to set the volume to high or low.  Hold that button down for ten seconds, and the cub will completely turn off so you can have quiet when you need it.

You’ll also be happy to know that it comes with 4 AA batteries already installed.  To conserve power, five minutes of inactivity will cause the cub to go into a super cute sleep mode where he closes his eyes and purrs.  If you don’t interact with him for the next five minutes, he powers down.  With as many batteries as we go through around here, I’m a big fan of automatic shut off.

We love our huggable lion cub, and my daughter fully admits it’s better than owning a real baby lion.  (Who wants to clean up after one of those anyway, right?)  As a stuffed animal, the quality is superb, but when you consider it’s also an interactive robotic toy, the $29.99 price tag almost sounds too good to be true.
