Why I Love Snoopy
You probably know by now that my family and I are huge Peanuts fans, which means I’m absolutely thrilled to be a Peanuts Ambassador. I can’t get enough!
I love all the Peanuts characters. They’re all special in their own way, and Peanuts wouldn’t be Peanuts without each of their fun and unique personalities. But the real star of the show is Snoopy.
I’ve loved Snoopy my entire life, and that love hasn’t faded one bit! In honor of the upcoming 3D Peanuts film, “The Peanuts Movie”, I thought I’d compile a list of my favorite things about Snoopy. In no particular order, of course:
Snoopy has the best imagination.
If you’ve seen Peanuts, you know Snoopy is always having a ball, living in a world of fantasies. Whether he’s a pilot, a writer, or even just having fun with the Peanuts gang, Snoopy’s imagination keeps things fun and fresh, and keeps Charlie Brown on his toes! His ideas may not always work out, but he doesn’t stop dreaming, and I love that. It’s a terrific lesson for kids to learn: never give up or stop working on your dreams, and have some fun while you’re at it.
Snoopy knows how to do holidays right.
Has any character ever been cuter than Snoopy as the famous WWI Flying Ace? Nope. Never. Growing up, my family and I watched It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! every Halloween, and I so looked forward to the scenes with Snoopy flying his doghouse, err, airplane, and traipsing across the French countryside. And Christmas? Snoopy totally has you covered when it comes to decorations. You won’t find a more festive doghouse (or house, for that matter) than Snoopy’s award-winning red abode!
Snoopy is an author.
Not only is Snoopy a famous pilot, but he’s also a World Famous Author! You may have seen him with his typewriter, getting down to business on top of his doghouse. His cherished works always begin with the line, “It was a dark and stormy night,” and he even “published” a book in 1971 called, you guessed it, “It Was a Dark and Stormy Night.” Lucy and Linus have often given Snoopy some suggestions as he works, but Snoopy is set in his ways. Actually, I’ve been thinking about writing a novel. How do you like the intro, “It was a dark and stormy night….”?
Snoopy gives the best kisses.
Lucy may disagree, but I think she’s just too embarrassed to admit it. Sometimes Snoopy will just bounce up and give a big smooch, and sometimes he’s more discreet. I’ve never seen a better apple-bobbing scheme than the Halloween where Snoopy arrived home from his latest tour of Flying Ace duty, snuck into the gang’s Halloween party, then somehow managed to get into the barrel of apples. Sure enough, when Lucy went in for her apple, she didn’t stand a chance. “Blegh! Egh!” I think I hear her yelling about dog germs even now…
Snoopy is a friend to the birds.
Snoopy’s longtime companion Woodstock would tell you how lovely it is to have Snoopy as a friend. They get into all kinds of adventures together, but his friendship to birds doesn’t stop there. Snoopy, Woodstock, and a merry band of birds spend lots of time in the woods, blazing trails as Beagle Scouts. As with most camping trips, shenanigans will ensue, but you know it’s even bigger and better when Snoopy is involved!
Snoopy is happiness.
This one kind of speaks for itself. You know what they say: Happiness is a warm puppy!
What about you? If Snoopy is your favorite, tell me why you love him too!

When my son was 4 and in preschool they performed a Charlie Brown Christmas. My son had the part of Charlie Brown, his best buddy was Snoopy. This was about ten years ago, I kick myself all the time for not recording the play. We love the characters and adore Snoopy.

I have been a huge peanuts fan since I was younger, and my kids love it too now. My favorite is Snoopy too. Love the Christmas special every year that comes on the TV.
Snoopy is adorable and a big fan favorite! Such a classic character!
I grew up with the Peanuts gang and love them too! Even as an adult, each year when they have their holidays specials on TV, I always watch! Snoopy is by far my favorite Peanuts character. I love how he is with Woodstock and I love a Beagle! I’m really looking forward to seeing the new movie!
I grew up loving the Peanuts gang and always remember watching all the Holiday shows with Charlie Brown. I never had a dog when I was growing up, but Snoopy was so fascinating to me and so funny!

The Peanuts Gang and Snoopy always remind me of my childhood. I loved all of the holiday specials that would be on TV.
I’m a grandmother and I still watch every Charlie Brown episode they run yearly. Snoopy is pretty cool! I didn’t know that a 3-D movie was coming out. I will be seeing that one.
I do love Snoopy, but if I had to choose a favorite I might go with Linus. He was so sweet-natured & a little bit naive.
Oh how I loved watching the peanuts as a child. I think my girls have seen it a few times. I love snoopy and every year I still like to watch Charlie Brown Christmas.
I love the Peanuts gang, too. My daughter is a big fan of Lucy. She thinks she’s funny. I’m expecting a baby girl and my daughter wanted to name her Lucy because of the Peanuts character.
