We Had a Cars-Themed #DisneySide @Home Celebration!
Last year for my son’s 4th birthday, we were excited to host a Disney Side @ Home Celebration, and it was a total hit. My son and all our guests had a great time, and he was buzzing about it for weeks after!
Imagine my excitement when I found out we had the opportunity to host another one for his 5th birthday. I absolutely couldn’t wait to share the news that we would be throwing a Disney Side Cars bash!
Thanks to Disney, we had a big box of awesome supplies to help us throw the party, and we were eager to get started celebrating with Lightning McQueen, Mater, and all our friends. Of course the best way to get everyone excited is a perfect invitation, and these Cars invites were so cute:
My son loved his name as a car emblem!
When party day arrived, the anticipation and excitement were palpable. My son’s guests were almost as excited as he was, so as soon as everyone arrived, the games began!
Here are some of the fun Disney activities that kept the kids busy all party long:
The Disney Fortune Teller
This little thing was so fun! I bet you remember playing with something similar when you were young. (MASH, anyone?) This particular fortune teller told the kids which Disney character they are, and my daughter was thrilled to get the quintessential Disney girl, Minnie Mouse herself.
Disney Bingo
Just like “regular” bingo, but Disney-themed! Instead of B-I-N-G-O, the kids were filling in squares with photos of Disney things like Parks, Attractions, Disney Sides, Characters, and Resorts. To be honest, I really love playing bingo, so I was especially fond of this one.
Pin the Smile on Mickey
Usually Mickey wears a permanent smile, so what happens when that smile goes missing? The kids help him out, of course! Just like playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey, the kids are blindfolded and have to get that smile back on Mickey’s face. I’m not ashamed to brag about my son’s ability to hit the bullseye on this one!
And finally, what’s a birthday celebration without goodie bags for your guests? I always stress out a little bit when it’s time to plan and pack goodie bags, because, well, I don’t know how to plan them or pack them. What kind of packaging do I use? What kind of goodies? The pressure! But seriously, goodie bags can sometimes be problematic, so I loved having these Cars-themed bags; they even have a zip seal, which answer the question of how to secure the bags. This year I had a great idea for fillers, too. All of the items in the bags were made by YumEarth, which means the kids went home with a fun, organic collection of gummy bears, lollipops, and fruit snacks. Yum!
The party, like last year, was a total hit. Dare I say it was even better? My baby is another year older, and with every year he’s able to participate more and enjoy things even more fully. Seeing him so happy makes me wish I could throw a Disney Side @Home Celebration every day!
