On the top shelf of my spice cabinet, I keep a giant box of kosher salt. You’ll rarely see me use this when I’m cooking though–it’s mostly for baking and creating fabulous, homemade salt scrubs. I prefer to use herbs and spices to make food interesting and delicious (don’t be a slave to the salt!), so I’ve been a fan of Mrs. Dash for years. You can always find their Original Blend in my cabinet, but the Extra Spicy is what I use most often. I’ve also used the Chicken, Steak, and Onion & Herb versions, but I was surprised to find out that they have 15 different seasoning blends available!
I do like to make my own seasoning blends too, but I’m so busy and don’t usually have the time to plan and prepare meals the way I’d like to, so I rely heavily on Mrs. Dash. The discovery that I have all of these new options was a very happy moment for me, and I couldn’t wait to experiment. They’re seasonings, so you can use them in about a gazillion different ways, and I do, but I find them the most helpful on nights when it’s suddenly 5 o’clock and I haven’t had a chance to spend a single minute getting dinner ready. That’s when I serve up a very easy, very healthy, very delicious dinner–and did I mention it’s VERY EASY?
Are you ready to learn my secret? It’s dinnertime. I haven’t made dinner yet. People are hungry. I’m stressed. What do I do? I pull out some thin-sliced chicken or turkey breast (it’s the one thing I almost always have in the fridge), sprinkle it with Mrs. Dash, and pop it into my countertop oven. I microwave a pouch of organic quinoa & brown rice, and I steam up some veggies. Voilà! Dinner is done. The whole process takes about 15 effortless minutes.
The whole family eats it up, and they don’t even realize that it’s a back-up meal. Why would they? It’s yummy and it’s complete. Mrs. Dash is like a superhero to me, rescuing me from disasters.

Thanks for sharing. I have never used this brand.
I didn’t realize how many options Mrs Dash had! I love most that they are salt-free! We don’t even own a container of salt in our house, and never use it in restaurants! I’d love to invest in the whole line for a future of tasty dinners!

My husband like the spicier types of Mrs Dash – with chipolte and jalapeno. I tend to go for the more herb and garlic ones. I like them because of the no salt – keeps my dishes healthy!
I had no idea that Mrs. Dash had so many flavor combination. We’ll need to try more at my house. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your recipe.
