Turn Can’t into Can with COVERGIRL + Walmart GC Giveaway #GirlsCan
The Walmart gift cards, product, and information have been provided by COVERGIRL.
Okay ladies, this one is especially for you.
Have there been times in your life when people said something like this to you? “Girls can’t do that,” “You throw like a girl,” or “It’s cute that you want to do this, but it’s a job for men, not women”? I know it’s happened to you. It’s happened to me, and every woman I’ve ever met. And it stinks.
Because I know this is something we’ve all had to deal with, I’m excited to tell you about COVERGIRL’s #GirlsCan campaign. #GirlsCan is meant to show that women are strong. That we can do anything we put our minds to. That we can tackle any obstacle life throws our way. And that we can do these things while feeling – knowing – we are beautiful.
This month, COVERGIRL’s #GirlsCan campaign is in full swing, and they will be donating $50,000 to Dress for Success®. This awesome international not-for-profit organization promotes economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and life. COVERGIRL is partnering with Dress for Success® to turn “can’t” into “can!”
Do you remember a specific time that you turned a “can’t” into a “can” to prove that #GirlsCan? I do. At age 21, I was working one of my first “real” jobs in a male-dominated field. Some of it was very new to me, so I was taking night classes to learn all the ins-and-outs of my work and to give my full commitment to the job. Many of the men I worked with thought it was “cute” that I took those classes. Plus, they often let their eyes “drift” while talking to me, if you know what I mean. To sum it up, my male coworkers and male managers did not believe in me. Instead of believing them, instead of telling myself “I can’t,” I said, “Oh, I definitely can, and I will.” I continued my classes and when I was finished, I knew more than the coworkers who never took me seriously. The one manager who believed in me all along gave me a promotion, and from there I spent my work days fixing the problems made by people who thought they knew more than me because I was “just a girl.” That’s right, #GirlsCan!
Like I said before, I know you’ve probably encountered something similar to my experience. So let’s do something to make things like this less common and to empower the women dealing with this kind of thing every day!
For a limited time, you can get specially-marked packs of COVERGIRL’s Flamed Out Mascara and Professional 3-in-1 Mascara at the #GirlsCan display at Walmart. Grabbing one (or both!) of these special mascaras at Walmart’s low prices will help COVERGIRL in its mission of donating $50,000 to Dress for Success® and proving that #GirlsCan. They absolutely can.
Check out what I did with my own Flamed Out Mascara, which I’ve combined with COVERGIRL’s Smoky Nudes Eyeshadow, Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation, and Outlast Lip Color in “Cinnamon Smile.” I went out for a fun night with friends wearing this look, and it gave me so much confidence and strength.
I hope you’ll share your COVERGIRL looks with me! I’d love to see how you make them “yours.”

I have never been much of a runner. I ran a few 5ks, and ran 6 miles once in my life. I honestly never thought I could do more. My husband convinced me to train for a 10 mile race, which I am proud to say I completed this year (at age 50) proving to myself that I can do more than I ever thought possible.
