Tips And Secrets For Stunning Eyes
A face meticulously made up looks great, but if you have only one feature to choose from, it’s best to do the eyes. If you’re pressed for time, or if you want to go for a more natural look, you can play up your eyes a little and leave the rest of your face alone, and still look great. If you have tired eyes or even if you’re having a bad hair day and just put it all up in a ponytail, making up your eyes will brighten your face, bring attention to your eyes and away from bad hair or any other flaws, and make you look more awake. Here are a few tips on expert eye makeup application that you can customize to be as quick or as detailed as you like.
Basic eye care. Everyone should have a simple eye care regime, to preserve the health of your eyes and keep them looking youthful. Washing your face and eyelids with a gentle cleanser should be your basic routine, even if it’s the only eye care step you take. Applying special eyelid moisturizer at night or in the morning is another important step. Moisturizers and makeup that include UV protection are beneficial in slowing the aging process and preventing other sun-related skin problems. For women with dark circles or tired eyes, concealers are a good first step before applying eye shadow. Eye base is another product that’s helpful if you have problems with your eye shadow staying on or creating a greasy line in the crease.
Eye shadow. Dust a light-colored shadow across your entire upper lid, then follow up with a darker color across the lower part of the lid, up to the crease. For a smoky look, blend in an even darker color in the crease. Gently blend in the colors so they appear to naturally fade into each other. Next, a makeup professional’s secret is to use a very light shade, like white or shimmery pink, at the inside corners of the eye, and just below the brow from the middle of the arch outward. This brightens the eyes and makes them pop!
Eyeliner. A dark line, like black or dark brown, should be applied across the rim of the upper eyelid, just above the lashes. This can be done with liquid eyeliner, eyeliner pencil, or a slanted eye brush moistened and dipped into shadow. Experiment to see the type of line that looks best for you: Dark lines that start thin at the inside corners, then gradually thicken at the outside edges look dramatic. For the lower lids, use a lighter color, such as light to medium brown, and line with shadow or a pencil from the middle of the eyelid outward – not the inside corners. This gives the eye a soft look, without being harsh or unnatural.
Eyelashes. Finish up your look with some attention to your lashes. Black mascara makes them prominent; use it on both upper and lower lashes. Curl your upper lashes with an eyelash curler to make them stand out – or experiment with false eyelashes. There are many varieties of false lashes available, for as natural or dramatic a look as you’d like, and many of them look completely real.
It only needs to take a few minutes to apply makeup that brings out the natural beauty in your eyes. With a bit of experimenting, and a collection of cosmetics in different shades and colors, you can discover many different combinations that make your eyes look great and compliment your personal style.
