Tinkertoys Snap Together & Stay Together. Win a 150-Piece Essentials Set!
Do you remember Tinkertoys? I used to play with them constantly when I was a wee lass. Even if you never played with them yourself, I bet you’re familiar with them. They’re a classic! I recently found out they were invented in 1913; when you consider the fact that a 102-year-old toy is still being enjoyed by families in 2015, that says a lot. With staying power that strong, they’re definitely doing something right.
Tinkertoy was recently named one of the top retro toys, but the Tinkertoys of today are part of the K’NEX family and have been newly redesigned. This redesign has made them even more fun because they stay together and don’t fall apart! That would be my only complaint about the Tinkertoy of yore: when I played with them as a child, they just didn’t stick together very well, which was annoying. These new versions are created to actually snap firmly and stay together, so you won’t have any frustrating accidents that break down your project.
The new Tinkertoys are made from plastic instead of wood. I admit to being slightly disappointed about that at first because old ones were wooden and I’m sentimental, but I quickly saw the light. The plastic offers a “bendability” that wood cannot, and it makes snapping the pieces together very easy.
What can your kids build with Tinkertoys? Anything their imagination can think up! Like all the best toys, these combine fun with education and help children develop and improve many skills, like fine motor skills, problem-solving, and critical-thinking. And, of course, they give kids a chance to create their own design and build it from scratch, which is always rewarding.
I’ve been thrilled with the new Tinkertoys. Their quality is fantastic, and they’re just as fun for my kids as they were for me when I was their age. They’re valuable teaching tools, and they’re even made here in the USA, which I really love. I think you’ll love them, too, which is why I’m happy to offer one lucky reader a Tinkertoy 150-Piece Essentials Value Set! With 150 pieces, your kids’ building options are limitless, so make sure to enter the contest before you go.
