The Plug & Play Bandai Namco Flashback Blast! Features Your Favorite Retro Arcade Games+ Giveaway
Ready to rediscover your favorite classic arcade games in the comfort of your own home? That’s exactly what I’ve been doing, and it’s been so much fun! You might say that I’ve been having a “blast”, which would be appropriate since it’s the Bandai Namco Flashback Blast! from AtGames that’s responsible for all of the excitement.
The Flashback Blast! is simply a portable HDMI dongle that has an assortment of video games loaded onto it. Here’s what you get in the box:
Along with the HDMI dongle, you receive an ergonomic, six-button, wireless controller; a micro-USB power cable; an instruction booklet; and two stickers. A truly plug-and-play experience, getting started takes almost no time at all. Start off by inserting two AAA batteries into the controller. Then just plug your dongle into an available HDMI port on your display, connect the USB power cord, and pair your controller.
The whole process took me under a minute, and then I was ready to immerse myself in nostalgia. The hardest part of getting set up was choosing which game to play first. The Flashback Blast! includes 8 timeless favorites:
1. Dig Dug
2. Galaga
3. Galaxian
4. Mappy
5. PAC-MAN
6. Sky Kid
7. Tower of Druaga
8. Xevious
How is a person to chose, right? I figured you can’t really go wrong with PAC-MAN, so that was the winner.
As you can see, it’s the game just as you remember it. And I’m just as bad at playing as ever. Well, my lack of skill didn’t bother me much back when I was a kid, and it doesn’t take away from my fun now either. In fact, playing with the Flashback Blast! is even better than the original because it lets you save and resume, so if you’re interrupted for any reason, you can pick up your game right where you left off. It even allows you to rewind games. That’s right, I said rewind. Those little ghosts don’t stand a chance.
We’ve been playing with the Flashback Blast!, but AtGames has a whole Blast! family for you to enjoy:
- Atari Flashback Blast! Vol. 1 features 20 Atari 2600 classics like Centipede, Millipede, and Yars’ Revenge.
- Atari Flashback Blast! Vol. 2 features 20 Atari 2600 classics like Adventure, Asteroids, and Missile Command.

For two players games, you can opt to purchase a second wireless controller. Find the Flashblack Blast! range at stores like Amazon, Walmart, Target, Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, and others. (I heard a rumor that Rite Aid has them at 50% off this week, so now is a good time to swing by your local store.)
