The Pirate Queen of Ireland is Coming to the 2018 NJ Renaissance Faire!
The NJ Renaissance Faire is back for it’s 9th year, and it’s bigger and better than ever. Join the festivities on May 19-20, May 26-27, and/or June 2-3 at Liberty Lake in Bordentown, NJ for some unique and exciting family entertainment!
The NJ Renaissance Faire has always had a soft spot for the Irish and Scottish Isles, and in 2018, all three weekends will follow the legendary Grace O’Malley, 16th century Pirate Queen of Ireland (performed by Ashley Davis of Philadelphia, PA), and her quest for justice from Sheriff Richard Bingham (deviously performed by Jacob Snively of Doylestown, PA.). This short video will really help get you into the spirit of this year’s theme:
The story begins each morning at 10 AM, continuing through the day with a Joust Contest, Human Chess Match, and eight hours of interactive entertainment, including Sword Fighting, Fire Breathing, Aerialists, Comedy, and Music entertainment on seven stages.
We go to the Faire as much for the food as for the shows. The renowned family-friendly festival features a wide variety of gourmet food (including the ever popular “dragon legs”), along with local craft beers at the South Jersey Celtic Society Meade Garden, and the award-winning Valenzano Wines. There is also extensive shopping in the eclectic Merchant Village with 60+ fine artisans, including historical glass blowing, blacksmith forge, and other fine crafts, trinkets, and handmade period clothing.
Special attractions include Scottish Highland Games (May 19-20), the incomparable Aerialist Shelli Buttons, musical maestros the Righteous Blackguards, the dapper Jacques Ze Whipper, and the swashbuckling Lords of Adventure. But what the NJ Renaissance Faire is known for nationally, is the ability to make your family a become part of the show as soon as you walk through the castle gates. Come release your inner-child!
