StikBot Turns Kids into Creative Animators! + Giveaway
I have a long-standing love affair with movies of all kinds, but I have an especially soft spot for stop-motion movies. For me, it all started with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and then movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas and Wallace & Gromit just solidified it. I’m also kind of hooked on stop-motion videos on Instagram, but before I get too far off track, let me introduce you to my current favorite thing: StikBots.StikBots are award-winning toy figurines (shaped, as you might imagine, a bit like robots) that kids can use to make their very own stop-motion videos! StikBots are super easy to use: their “hands” and “feet” are suction cups that stick to almost any flat surface, and you can easily mimic human movement with these figures, as they have bendable joints. StikBots can sit in a chair and read a book just as easily as they can breakdance on the sidewalk outside! To give you a better idea of what a StikBot can do, this quick video will show you more:
Your kids (or you, I’m not judging) can use the StikBots to create stop-motion movie scenes with the free mobile app StikBot Studios, available for both iOS and Android devices. The app will snap individual pictures as your kids create the scenes and the motion, and then it will stich them all together into a film. The app even features built-in music and sound effect options, so the final product will be an actual, full-fledged stop-motion movie!
I think this is so fun. With StikBots, your kids can let their imaginations run free and suddenly everything is a potential setting or prop for their next movie. Not only is it fun, but it’s also one of those engaging toys that I love, one that combines play and learning. Kids will get to exercise all kinds of skills, like writing scripts and creating storylines, building sets and props, photographing the movie, and creating something from scratch through careful thinking and strategizing.
StikBot also gives kids a chance to find and share inspiration by posting their creations to social media with the #StikBot tag. They can see what kids all across the world are creating, opening their minds to new ideas and even new cultures.
So what do you think? Are you ready to get your kids excited about creating videos? StikBot toys can be purchased across the country at stores like Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, Fred Meyer, K-Mart, and on Amazon.com. You can check out StikBot’s website for more info and search for #StikBot across social media to see what everyone is creating. You’ll also want to make sure to subscribe to the official StikBot YouTube channel so you can see all the fun new videos they upload!
Enter now to win a StikBot Studio Pack! Giveaway is open to US residents who are 18 and older. Ends 12/20/15. Good luck!
