Simple Peppermint Foot Scrub Recipe
Open-toe shoe season is upon us, so it’s extra important to make sure you take good care of those tootsies. One of the most important steps to maintaining soft, pretty feet is to gently exfoliate them to remove the dead skin cells. Sadly, many store bought scrubs contain harmful ingredients like parabens, phthalates, and sulfates, but you can avoid all of these things by making your own right at home.
My recipe for soft, smooth feet only takes a few simple ingredients and even fewer steps to make it happen. I start with Shadow Lake Peppermint Leaf Castile Soap because I like to combine my cleansing with my exfoliating. Who needs extra steps, right? I really like this soap because it contains organic peppermint oil, olive oil, and aloe vera, so a lot of the work is done for you. Peppermint is fabulous for tired feet, and it’s such an invigorating scent. Even though the soap contains olive oil, I still like to add a little jojoba oil, because jojoba oil is magical. Tea tree oil is used for it’s antibacterial and antifungal properties.
- ¼ cup Shadow Lake Peppermint Leaf Castile Soap
- 1 tbsp Organic Jojoba Oil
- ½ cup Organic Sugar
- 4 drops Tea Tree Oil (optional)
- Thoroughly blend all ingredients in a small bowl.
- Scrub!
Please know that this mixture will separate; oil can be annoying that way. I store mine in a soft-ish tube that I can squeeze and mush around a bit before I scrub. You can try to find a tube like that, or you can keep your scrub in a glass cosmetic jar (you can find these at places like eBottles) and stir it when you need it. If you like, you can substitute a coarse salt for the sugar in this. I like to use regular sugar because it feels very gentle, but it’s still effective. You can also add Vitamin E to the mixture to give it a longer shelf life. (Remind me to buy some of that.)
I use this scrub twice a week, and my feet love me for it. Used consistently, this scrub will have your feet sandal-ready and keep them that way!

Good idea! My feet need a treatment like this, the nail polish doesn’t help, they still look rough, lol!
