Preserve & Share Your Memories with YesVideo – Win a $50 Gift Card! #DivaMemories
This review and giveaway was made possible by Double Duty Divas and YesVideo. I received the featured service free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.
Technology is really something, isn’t it? These days I can take my kids to do something fun, pull out my phone, and take both still pictures and video of them, no equipment involved. I love that we can do this, because it provides so many more opportunities to put memories on film (or memory card, as the case may be).
But it wasn’t all that long ago that we were using big video cameras to do our filming, and at our house we have box upon box of old VHS tapes from many moons ago. It’s getting harder to find VCRs, and frankly I don’t want a big bulky VCR getting in the way of my shiny, slim Blu-ray player. But what can you do about all those old video tapes?
Convert them!

They’re online for easy at-home ordering, but they are also available at over 30,000 retail locations, including Costco, CVS, Rite Aid, and Walmart. Simply place your service order, ship your VHS tapes to them, and within 15 days you’ll have a DVD copy as well as online copies you can watch on your computer or on your iPad/iPhone via their free app.
With their EasyShip Kit, YesVideo makes it really simple to get started.
Just follow the instructions included in the kit for packaging and shipping your videos, and in a few weeks this:
Will be converted to this:
You’ll receive email updates from YesVideo every step of the way, so you’ll always know the status of your order. They’ll let you know when they’ve received your videos, when the transfer is complete, and when they ship your original videos back to you. Handing over my priceless and irreplaceable memories was a little nerve-wracking for me, so those updates were very appreciated.
As I mentioned earlier, I have a bunch of home videos, but I don’t have any way to watch them. What’s worse is that some of them aren’t labeled (blame Daddy for that), so figuring out the content is impossible. In a case like this, having your videos converted is a bit of an adventure. You don’t know what you might find, and the anticipation is kind of exciting. The whole family couldn’t wait to get watching!
There were a few surprises on our videos–moments with family and friends that we’d forgotten we had captured. Most of it took place before we had our children, and the kids got such a kick out of watching old footage of family events that happened when everyone was so much younger. My daughter insisted I share this gem of one of my husband’s relatives doing some at-home karaoke:
I can’t tell you how good it feels to have all of these memories accessible again. This girl is way sappy and sentimental, and my kids are the same, so it means as much to them as it does to me that we did this. We’re all looking forward to having YesVideo convert more of our mystery tapes. Who knows what goodies we might uncover?!
Oh, and with each transfer order, you get free unlimited online storage of your videos. Forever. No joke. Through your online YesVideo account you’re able to do all the viewing, editing, and sharing of your videos that you want, for as long as you want. Some of the video that we sent in was taken by my mother-in-law who lives a few states away, and it was great being able to share the videos with her online. I’ve also been creating snippets of some of the more entertaining moments and sharing with the people who starred in them. Connecting with family and friends I don’t get to see often enough and reminiscing about the great times we’ve had has been so much fun for all of us.
Speaking of connecting, make sure you follow YesVideo on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news and special offers. And guess what! I happen to have a special offer for you right now. Use code YVBLOG20 to save 20% on video transfer orders placed at YesVideo.com through 9/31/14.
YesVideo is offering Game On Mom readers a chance to win a $50 YesVideo gift card! Giveaway is open to US residents who are 18 and over. Ends 9/6/14. Good luck!
