The Pirate Fairy Printable Arrr-ctivities & a Talk with the Producer
From the world of “Peter Pan” comes “The Pirate Fairy”, a swashbuckling new adventure about Zarina (voice of Christina Hendricks), a smart and ambitious dust-keeper fairy who’s captivated by Blue Pixie Dust and its endless possibilities. When Zarina’s wild ideas get her into trouble, she flees Pixie Hollow and joins forces with the scheming pirates of Skull Rock, who make her captain of their ship. Tinker Bell (voice of Mae Whitman) and her friends must embark on an epic adventure to find Zarina, and together they go sword-to-sword with the band of pirates led by a cabin boy named James (voice of Tom Hiddleston), who’ll soon be known as Captain Hook himself. With laughter, heart, magic, and thrills, “The Pirate Fairy” sets sail April 1, 2014.
Yep, another installment of the Tinker Bell movies will be available starting tomorrow, and I think it’s one of the best so far (I’ll always be partial to The Great Fairy Rescue). In this fifth fabulous fairy story, we’re introduced to Zarina in a tale that’s full of fun and adventure and also shares a little Neverland history.
Last week, I was able to meet with Jenni Magee-Cook, one of the film’s producers, and learn some interesting info on the making of the film. Did you know they visited an actual pirate ship to prepare for this movie? They staged a mock pirate battle and learned all about pirate language and pirate jobs from an actual pirate expert. Now that’s my kind of research! This is the kind of thing that brings such authenticity to Disney movies and makes them so special.
Some serious thought and detail also went into the creation of Zarina’s costume. For the first time, Disney enlisted a real fashion designer to outfit their newest fairy. They wanted her look to be strong, dynamic, and high fashion, and Christian Siriano (of Project Runway fame) was just who they needed to make that happen. In the picture below, you can see one of the sketches he made during the design process.
Remember Tick-Tock the crocodile from Peter Pan? You know him. He’s the one who ate up Captain Hook’s hand and was always chasing after him so he could finish the job. In The Pirate Fairy, you get to see him hatch from an egg, meet James (who later becomes Captain Hook) for the first time, and you even get too see how he ended up swallowing that clock. The illustration below shows the development of baby Crocky and how they took the original crocodile design from Peter Pan and turned it into the adorable baby version of Captain Hook’s nemesis.
My favorite Pirate Fairy fact: baby Crocky’s tick tock is the same audio used in the original Peter Pan movie. I love that!
With The Pirate Fairy, Disney merges Neverland with our fairies from Pixie Hollow for the first time. It’s full of familiar elements that will remind you of your childhood, plus you get a new and exciting story to go with them. Oh, and did I mention that you get to hear Tom Hiddleston sing? Grab the magic on Blu-ray and Digital HD on 4/1.
You and your children can have fun with the fairies right now! Check out these Pirate Arrr-ctivities:
And now, I leave you with a bit of Pirate Fairy cuteness:

I would love to see this with my baby cousin. She loves fairies.
My youngest niece would just love both the movie and the activities. So fun!
I’m excited to see thsi with my kid-sister. I’ve always been a bit of a tom boy so a lot of the princess type movies don’t appeal to me – I love the idea of a pirate fairy, though! Much more ‘me’.

April 1… that’s today! I can’t believe there’s actually a Disney movie (we love ’em all!) that looks this good and my daughter is just hearing about it now… she’s excited about it! 🙂
Growing up as a kid, I loved drawing sharks. After a while, I got good at it, because it was the only thing I ever drew.
I’d like my kids to try out some of these activities, like learning how to draw the baby croc.
My grandson would like this
Another Disney movie to add to our collection. My daughter would love this DVD.
This looks like the best tinkerbell movie yet
I think my grandkids would love this movie, just as I did Peter Pan when I was a child.

I want to get this for my niece. Looks like a good one!
