Paint with Water for Relaxation and Fun with the Buddha Board
Today, I’d like to introduce you to the Original Buddha Board. It’s a temporary painting board that people of all ages can use for relaxation and for fun, and I’m very excited to tell you about how it works.
With each Original Buddha Board, you get one canvas, one brush, and one tray. The tray acts as an easel, a resting place for the brush, and it can also hold the water that you use for painting. And that’s the secret that makes this board so special: you’re painting with water.
Dip the brush into the reservoir, and paint your image onto the board’s surface. It’s that simple. Once the water from your design evaporates, you’ll be left with a fresh canvas, and you can start all over again. There’s no waste here—only endless opportunities to express your creativity.
Why would you want to create temporary art? The Buddha Board is based on the Zen concept of living in the moment. It allows you to let go and enjoy the now. If you’re a mom, it also means not worrying about where to store the finished artwork. All around, it’s quite a relaxing and liberating experience.
Art Therapy for Stress
Now you might be thinking, “Okay, but I’m not much of an artist.” Don’t fret. Research has indicated that creating art, no matter what your skill level may be, can help reduce stress. Think of it as a natural way to reduce cortisol, which is commonly referred to as the “stress hormone”. As someone who feels overwhelmed by life 24/7, I can tell you that I’ve found it to be a very calming activity. When I start to feel overly anxious, I sit down in front of the Buddha Board and paint. I’ve always turned to reading or puzzles at those moments, and I probably always will, but it’s nice to have an option that let’s me quickly and easily create something. It really seems to help let out some of that stress that builds up inside. At-home art therapy sounds good to me—plus, it happens to be a lot of fun!
Mess-Free Painting
Part of what makes the Buddha Board a fun and relaxing tool is that it allows you to create a work of art without making a mess. No paint, no ink, and no chemicals means no cleanup. When you’re finished painting, simply dump out the remaining water and let the brush dry. You won’t have any brushes to clean or splatters to try to remove from the floor, walls, or clothing.
Environmentally-Friendly Art Tool
With Earth Day coming up next month, it seems like a good time to bring up the eco-friendly aspect of the Buddha Board. As I mentioned, there’s no paint, no ink, and no chemicals, so that’s obviously better for the planet. The components are made from natural and recycled materials, and the canvas is reusable. According to Recycling Revolution “1 billion trees worth of paper are thrown away every year in the US”. One billion trees! And that’s just in the US. With the Buddha Board, you can do painting after painting without wasting tons of paper and paint.
Screen-Free Fun for Kids
Present your children with a different kind of screen to keep them entertained. With the Buddha Board, they’ll be using their imaginations instead of their electronics, and they’ll love every minute of it. You don’t need to worry about batteries or chargers either.
What do you think? Could you use a little more zen in your life? The Buddha Board can definitely help you there. It’s a unique gift idea to say the least, and both children and adults can enjoy painting with water!

I have never heard of a Buddha board and really like this idea as an alternative to the zen garden with sand. This would be a great gift for a friend going through some stress and anxiety. Thanks — Paige Bainbridge (paigebainbridge.com)
I love how clean it all looks! The Buddha board seems like so much fun! I’m no master of drawing, but it definitely does relieve stress 🙂 Good read!

Makes me think of the etch a sketch when I was a child. I was never very good at that and it always made me frustrated, although this looks much simpler and easier to use.

How cool is that! No wastage, no chemicals. This is perfect! Now I can practice painting with water and without feeling guilty about wasting paper and paint.
