Not Your Mother’s Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream
Most people who know me would say that I have straight hair. They would say this because when they see me, that’s what my hair is. What they don’t know is that straight is a very unnatural state for my hair, and it takes much torturing to get it to that point. My hair is actually quite wavy. If you do an image search for wavy hair, you’ll get a lot of pictures of long, beautiful, flowing tresses. Not having my own personal stylist, my wavy hair doesn’t even vaguely resemble those images. Okay, my hair is long, but that’s where the similarities end.
My waves are frizzy and unappealing when they’re left to themselves. Unfortunately, most products that I’ve used to try to tame the craziness have either been sticky or just didn’t work. There are days when I just don’t feel like spending two hours styling my hair straight, but if I’m going out in public, that’s pretty much what I have to do. I can’t count the number of times that I’ve wished I could just go natural and let my hair air dry.
And this is where Not Your Mother’s (NYM) Hair Care comes in. I received a small tube of their Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream in my latest delivery from Influenster, the Beauty Blogger VoxBox. This cream is designed to define natural curls and waves while defrizzing and detangling. Infused with grapeseed and jasmine, Kinky Moves also helps hair to shine and has UV protection benefits.
How I got defined with Kinky Moves:
After carefully towel-drying my hair, I applied a dollop of the product while my hair was still damp. It took me a few times to find the amount that worked just right for me. Next, I did a lot of scrunching, and then I just let my hair air dry, and voilà! My hair had all the waves without all of the frizz and fly away mess it would normally have. No stickiness or crunchiness either–and I dislike those things as much or more than frizz.
One of my favorite things about this product is how it feels in my hands. Have I mentioned how much I hate stickiness? This was absolute not sticky. After I applied it, I was not left with the urge to run to the bathroom sink (tripping over the shoes on my floor in the process) so I could wash my hands. It has a very light, clean feel to it, and that’s exactly how it feels in your hair.
Because I liked the way the product felt so much, I decided to give it a try on a day when I did feel like going with a straight look. I was surprised at how smooth and soft it left my hair. If Kinky Moves works that well when I’m straightening my hair, then I can’t wait to try their Smooth Moves cream, which is actually meant for that purpose.
You can find Kinky Moves ($6.00) and other NYM products at stores like CVS, WalMart, and Ulta. Find a store near you.
