Nominate a Nurse for the Pampers Thank You Nurses Awards + Win $100 AMEX GC
This review was made possible by iConnect and Pampers. I was provided compensation to facilitate this post, but all opinions are 100% mine.
As a group, some of my favorite people in the world are nurses. I’ve worked in healthcare and spent time with nurses in other settings over the years, and I can tell you something you probably already know: nurses are often undervalued and underestimated, which is incredibly unfortunate.
To help celebrate and honor nurses, Pampers is launching a Thank You Nurses Awards program that I can’t wait to tell you about, but first I want to share a story of a nurse who deeply touched my life.
A year ago, at age 34, I had a stroke while I was on vacation, six hours away from home. Fun vacation, huh? I was hospitalized for a week in a hospital I didn’t even know existed until I was being rushed into it on a stretcher (I’m fortunate to have been near a large academic medical center).
I was terrified. Now, thankfully this was a large family vacation, so quite a few people were there with me, but it was my mother who stayed by my side 24/7. Needless to say, it was a tough time for both of us. I was lucky – I survived, and I came out on the other side with very little permanent change in my life, but it was incredibly traumatizing. My week in the hospital was spent in a neuroscience intensive care unit with a nurse whose name and face I will never, ever forget. She was one of the most caring people I’ve ever met, and wow, was she talented in her field. I never had even a sliver of doubt about her; she took her job very seriously and seemed to be a fount of endless knowledge, and I knew I was safe in her hands. She provided a sense of security when I needed it most. She was my guardian, she was solace in an unfamiliar place, she was a comedian, she was a teacher, and she was a friend. Not only did she help carry me through my illness, but she took care of my mother, too. Every day, she made sure my mom had a comfortable place to sleep in my hospital room, made sure she was eating regularly, and answered every question and request with patience, kindness, and a smile. I can’t lie – when they transitioned me to an intermediary care unit, I cried when I had to leave her care. No hospital stay is a fun time, but this nurse made it a million times better than I could have ever expected, and I am eternally grateful to her.
So, what about you? Has a nurse ever touched your life in a way you’ll never forget? If so, I hope you’ll consider taking part in the Pampers Thank You Nurses Awards program!
Nominate a Nurse!
While my story obviously lies in a different field of medicine, the Pampers program focuses on nurses who care for babies across three different categories: Labor & Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Postpartum. We’re inviting everyone to share stores about nurses who have made life #BetterForBaby by nominating them for the Thank You Nurses Awards. You can submit nominations from November 9th through December 14th.
Three finalists will be chosen (one from each of the three categories above) and will be announced in March. The grand prize honoree will be announced in May. What are the prizes? I’m glad you asked!
All three finalists will be honored with the following:
- Short documentary videos showcasing their inspirational stories
- A one-year membership to the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN)
- Attendance at the AWHONN 2016 convention
- Proctor & Gamble care packages.
To further honor the name of these three finalists, three Pampers Swaddlers scholarships will be made available to help nurses from underrepresented groups complete their studies toward a Master of Science in Nursing degree.
- See details and official rules at http://spr.ly/6181BPvMF.
- Winner must be a resident of the US or Puerto Rico, 18 years or older.
- Nomination period ends 12/14/15 at 3 PM EST.
Don’t forget: to honor the special Labor & Delivery, NICU, or Postpartum nurses in your life, you need to nominate them between November 9th and December 14th.

I’m not sure what this is about. I’m entering for the gift card. My kids are adults. If I won, I’d take the diapers to the church across the street and let them give them to someone that needs it.
Mine would be a few nurses, at our cancer center, that treated my husband for cancer: they were attentive, caring, and empathetic, kept a positive attitude, which helped my husband immensely.

I would nominate a nurse who helped my husband.
I’ve had only a couple of experiences with nurses and that way a long time ago when I was child, so no, I don’t have a nurse to nominate.
My Nephew who is a Army Nurse.
We have a very special nurse at my daughter’s pediatrician’s office who totally deserves an award. My daughter has never ever cried if she gives the shots! She’s also always working so hard, but always in a great mood. Her positivity can really change the mood of a frightened child (or mom!!!)!
I nominate my cousin! She is a NICU nurse and touches so many lives every day!
No maybe a lab tech.
The nurse I would nominate was my guardian angel during my trial of labor after cesarean. Even when I ended up in another c-section, she wouldn’t leave my side. It meant the world to me to have her support.
I would like to nominate my labor room nurse.
It was a long labor and she was such a comfort.
thank you
I would nominate my daughters aunt who is a nurse and stayed past her shift to be in the OR with me for an unplanned C-section, I am very grateful she was there.
Yes My best friend Regina is a Nurse Practitioner. She works tirelessly to help her patients get the best care she can provide. She is a selfless person who is always trying to help everyone
I have a nurse to nominate. His name is Billy and he works at Baptist Hospital In Little Rock, AR. I was in a really bad accident and spent a lot of time on his floor. He always treated me with care and compassion. He made me laugh, when I needed a laugh, and always helped me to do my daily activities while promoting my privacy and dignity. He is a very very special person who I love dearly. He helped me though a lot of really bad days. I am forever grateful.
I would nominate my aunt Glenda who’s been a nurse for 25 years.
I’ll never forget one particular nurse. Her name was Sophia. She helped me when I was in labor with my first son. She was so sweet and funny. I was so scared and stressed about giving birth, but she was very reassuring and motivating. She was very attentive and even stayed an hour past the end of her shift, because she wanted to be with me until I gave birth. I was pushing for almost three hours, the OBGYN told me that if I didn’t deliver after three hours, I would have to have a C-section. Sophia kept me going, I was exhausted after 14 hours of labor and not getting any sleep for the past 34+ hours. I’m sure that my baby boy would have been delivered safely if she wasn’t there, but she made it enjoyable, even when I was in pain. My son was in the NICU for the first couple days due to me having a fever when he was delivered (just a precaution). She was off for two days after I delivered, but she came to visit me and my baby. She really went above and beyond. Anyone to have her by their side during delivery is very lucky.
I’d like to nominate my Niece Katie. She’s such a caring, loving and kind person and is a super wonderful nurse. She absolutely loves being a nurse and takes great care in her patients.
I don’t have a specific nurse to nominate but, when my grandson was born, there were several nurses who were so good and caring with him. 🙂
I would nominate my friend’s daughter who is a wonderful nurse.
I will nominate both my DIL and my niece, both of whom are very hard-working nurses.

I would nominate my Labor and Delivery nurse. She was such a help when I was delivering my baby and when I had some difficulty nursing her.
When my husband and I were living abroad, we decided to have our expecting child in a local clinic in a developing country. I was terrified because many of the nurses didn’t speak English. The project manager’s wife was a nurse and decided to schedule to come visit when I was planning to give birth. She helped me through every step of the process, motivated and encouraged me when I wanted to give up. I want to thank her for her support and helping me make it through.
I want to nominate the nurse that took care of my dad when he had cancer.
I would like to nominate my sister in law Billie Jo.She just had a baby and went right back to work because she missed the staff and missed helping people out.she has a heart of gold and does her job well
When my first child was born, a nurse named Jo was so helpful and informative. I so appreciated her as I was a first time mom. I would love to nominate her but she went on to become a licensed counselor.
