My New Eco-friendly Cleaning Tools from CleanItSupply.com
You might know by now that I’m in charge of the cleaning in my home, and I prefer to use green products to do it. So, I’m always thrilled to discover environmentally-friendly cleaners, and my latest comes from CleanItSupply.com. They sent me Misco’s Elements All Surface Kit and a Unisan Grip-N-Flip 10-Sided Microfiber Mitt to try out and share with you!
Elements is a line of cleaners designed with environmental responsibility in mind. Most of the Elements products (and all of the ones that I tried) are Ecologo certified, which means they represent environmental leadership and provide tangible human health and environmental benefits. They’re phosphate-free, and don’t contain any chlorine bleach, petroleum distillates, ozone depleting compounds, or known carcinogens. The Elements All Surface Kit includes three one quart bottles:
All Surface Neutral Cleaner – This is a very low toxicity and VOC, biodegradable cleaner for use on all surfaces. I’ve been using this to keep the kitchen counters and stove top clean, and it’s been working great. It easily removes dried up food without the need for a lot of scrubbing. My elbow approves.
Non-Ammoniated Glass Cleaner – This ammonia-free cleaner will leave your glass and mirrored surfaces shiny and streak-free, but it can also be used on other surfaces, including sinks, countertops, and stainless steal. Glass cleaner is probably the cleaner I use most often because my kids just love to splatter the bathroom mirror when they brush their teeth, so I’m very happy to have one that works well and doesn’t have a strong odor.
Organic Acid Restroom Cleaner – This organic acid fortified, heavy duty, biodegradable formula is great for all of the surfaces you find in your bathroom, from toilet to tub. Cleans away soap scum, hard water deposits, rust stains, body oils, fats, and dirt. My bathroom certainly has all of those things, so to test the product, I let a little bit of funk build up in the corner of my shower. Again, there wasn’t any scrubbing involved here; I simply sprayed, let it sit for a few minutes, and wiped with a sponge. I think it did a pretty good job of getting the grout clean, don’t you? (BTW, the grout is putty-colored, not white.)
I’ve been pleased with the performance of all three of these products, and I truly appreciate the efforts the manufacturers have taken to lessen their environmental impact. Just as important to me is that these don’t smell all chemical-ly. In fact, they don’t smell like much at all (even though they aren’t fragrance-free), and that’s okay by me. I don’t need fumes or fragrances irritating my delicate nose.
My other new cleaning tool, the Grip-n-Flip Microfiber Mitt, is the coolest thing I’ve come across in a while. It’s true that I don’t get out much these days, but this really is a neat little tool, and if you’re responsible for the dusting in your household, you’ll like it too.
I’ve always preferred cleaning with a cloth that I can wash and use over and over again, but if the cloth is dirty before you’re done or if you want to clean a different surface, then what do you do? Get a new cloth. Or flip! When one side of the Grip-n-Flip is soiled, you flip to the other side, and when that one is dirty (and here is where it gets really impressive), you can flip to a brand new layer.
All together, the mitt has 10 layers that make cleaning so much more convenient. It can be used wet or dry on all surfaces, and it’s washable. The company that makes the Grip-n-Flip, O’Dell, is 100% green power supplied and certified carbon neutral. Caring for the environment while cleaning my dining room. I like it.
These are just a few of the environmentally-friendly options they have available; visit CleanItSupply.com to see how else you can green your cleaning!
