Mod-1 Headphones: The Perfect All-Day Audio Companion at an Amazing Price
There’s nothing like music to help you escape the stresses of everyday life. Any time I need a little break, I can just put on my headphones and let my favorite songs take me away from the things that worry me. The quality of the whole experience is greatly influenced by the quality of the headphones you use, but finding a pair that has the features you want at an affordable price isn’t always easy.
Before we go any further, I want to make one point perfectly clear: big names and high prices DO NOT guarantee quality. I’ve seen a lot of people spend a lot of money on headphones because they’re buying the name rather than what is the best equipment for them. Let’s put an end to that craziness right now and take a look at a pair of headphones that are actually designed to improve your listening experience.
Mod-1 Headphones from Modular are absolutely packed with useful features. They’re digital, analog, AND wireless, and that’s just the beginning.
In the box, you get the headphones, a usb cable, an auxiliary cable, and a user manual. You’ll need to charge the headphones before using them for the first time, but then you’re all set to have fun. Just connect them to your audio device through Bluetooth or NFC, or go old school and use the aux jack. My favorite MP3 player isn’t wireless, so I find myself using the auxiliary cable pretty often. The Mod-1s have another connection option, and it’s one I haven’t seen in headphones before: an SD card slot.
Tilt out the ear cup, and you’ll find a micro SD card slot. Load your card with mp3s, mp4s, and/or wav files, and you can listen to your favorite tunes without relying on any exterior devices. How cool is that?
They’ve also included an FM radio tuner. If only there were a single radio station I could tolerate, I’d be thrilled with that feature. When I travel to areas with better quality radio stations, I’ll have to make sure I remember to bring my Mod-1 headphones with me.
Once you’re connected and listening to your music, you’ll notice how very comfortable the headphones are. While they’re solid and substantial, they’re aren’t at all bulky or heavy. The full metal headband is flexible, adjustable, and lined with some nice, squishy padding so it rests cozily on your head. You’ll be amazed at how soft the snug-fitting ear cups are, and I love that you can replace them if they get worn out over time or if you simply want to switch them out for sharing. Modular has definitely made comfort a priority here. I can wear these lightweight headphone for hours at a time, and they don’t bother me one bit.
I’m happy to report that the Mod-1s sound as good as they feel. The noise-canceling ear cups work like a charm to block the outside world and make you feel like you’re in the middle of real concert. You get a lot of bass out of these, which I happen to like, but you can use an equalizer on your device to tweak the settings to best fit whatever kind of music you’re listening to.
Skip, play, and pause tracks directly from headset by using the buttons located on the right ear cup. It’s very convenient not to have to go back to my phone to perform these functions. That’s the whole point of being wireless, right? The one thing I don’t find convenient about the Mod-1s is the volume control. To change the volume, you have to long press the next and back buttons, which means that I often end up inadvertently changing the song. I’d much prefer the volume were separate.
Battery life is excellent–I get between 7 and 8 hours of use out of these before they die. It takes about two hours to get these fully charged, and you can use the headphones while you’re charging them. You can even listen while they’re dead if you use the auxiliary cable. (I tell you, an aux output is so much more useful than most people realize.) An automatic shut off feature will power the headphones down after five minutes of inactivity, and I’m not ashamed to say I take full advantage of that.
Oh, and they fold up for storage. Neat.
I have to say that I’m very impressed with the Mod-1 headphones. They have way more features than I’ve ever seen in one pair of headphones, and the price is more than reasonable. Right now, you can get Mod-1 headphones for just $99 on Amazon. That’s right, you get great sound and tons of features and you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars for it. That’s a deal if I’ve ever seen one.

they seems like a good quality earphone. I wish my daughter could have these instead of earbuds.
I really like that the controls are on the ear piece and they look like they have a ton of padding for comfort
