Mía Mariú Cosmetics Review

Eyeshadow, blush, bronzer, lipstick, lip gloss, mascara, eyeliner.  In my bedroom, I have a drawer full of all of those things (and more) in more colors and brands than I can count.  And if you were to look in my bathroom, you just might find even more.  So, do I have enough make-up?  The answer is no, because such a thing is not possible.  Make-up makes me feel pretty, and different occasions call for different varieties.  Needless to say, when the opportunity to try Mía Mariú cosmetics came up, I didn’t hesitate to accept.

Mía Mariú offers natural health and beauty products, and this was my first time trying them.  Natural is one of my favorite words, so I was really excited about this and had the hardest time choosing what to sample.  I’ve been desperately in need of some new make-up brushes, so I decided to start with two of the eye color brushes.  And what better to pair with new eye color brushes than new eyeshadow? Here’s what I received:

• Multipurpose Eye Color Brush No. 15 – Designed to apply eye shadow evenly, it creates a natural crease effortlessly and is wonderful to blend shades. Use with Mineral Loose Shadow Liner and Mineral Pressed Eye Shadow Duos.

• Petite Detail Eye Color Brush No. 18– Designed to give you even control application of color. Use small strokes. Can be used to highlight your brows and apply special accents.

• Mineral Eye Shadow Duo Luna de Miel – Made with pure minerals and luxurious color pigments, this formula glides gently on your skin and stays on for hours without smudging, fading, or creasing.

I was so glad I went with the brushes!  The ones I’ve been using have very long handles, which I’m sure is helpful if you’re applying on other people (or, I suppose, if you have enormous hands), but I find it horribly awkward when trying to do my own make-up.  Also, the bristles are always falling out. The Mía Mariú brushes are a very reasonable in length and were comfortable to use.  And no falling bristles!  What that really means is that I don’t have to pick bristles off of my skin and smudge the make-up that I’ve already applied.  This makes me a very happy girl.

I started by using the multipurpose brush to apply the lighter shade to my entire eyelid, focusing on the inner eye area and under my eyebrow.  I then took the detail brush and patted the darker shade onto the crease and toward the outside corner.  To blend, I used the multipurpose brush again, and it worked perfectly.  It’s very easy to do and only takes a few minutes, which is great for someone like me who doesn’t have a lot of time for complicated make-up applications but still wants to do a little something to enhance the eyes.

The mineral eye shadow applied smoothly and lasted all day, even without a primer.  The colors weren’t super sparkly (yay!) but had a very subtle shimmer to them.  I thought this duo was perfect for daily wear.  I tend to prefer my daytime make-up to be simple and more natural, and that’s exactly what this did for me.  In person, the colors have a more vibrant appearance than they do in the photo, but it’s still a somewhat subtle look.  Want to be a bit more dramatic? Go a little heavier on the application, add some liner, and maybe a little illuminator, and you’re all set for a fun night out.

I’ve been very happy with the items I received, and my new eyeshadow duo has already become a favorite that I know I’ll be reaching for often.  Now I just have to figure out what to try next.  Maybe a mineral blush?  Or possibly some volumizing mascara?  Perhaps the hydrating stick gloss!
