Fun Learning Activities from M is for Monster (Giveaway)
My two children are in preschool now, but I still like to have educational activities for them to do at home. (Just say yes to learning fun and no to SpongeBob.) The only problem with that plan is that I have a pretty hectic schedule of my own and I lack creativity in that area. Okay, that’s two problems, but the point is that I really need some help coming up with things for them to do. M is for Monster to the rescue!
M is for Monster is the creation of a brilliant mom who knows that parents want educational activities for their children but don’t necessarily have the extra time required to plan them and gather the supplies. The monthly subscription box service does all the work for you because it includes everything you need to get your kids learning and having fun for the entire month–and they deliver it right to your home!
Boxes are available for Toddlers (2-3 yrs. old) and Preschoolers (4-5 yrs. old) and feature fun weekly themes, each with 2 or 3 activities to complete. I was sent a September box to review and you’re about to see how much fun my kids had with it!
Week 1: Apples
- Apple Sorting
- Apple Counting Book
- Apple Tree Craft
Nothing says fall like apples, right? We usually go apple picking during September and October, but my accident has prevented me from taking part in this year’s festivities, so I was extra happy to bring some apple-y fun into the house instead.
Counting, drawing, sorting, and crafty fun abounded that week, and I think my children’s faces speak for themselves. It was a great introduction to the service.
- Self Portrait Head Bust Painting
- All About Me Book
- Faces Memory Matching Game
My daughter loves drawing people and faces, so this was her favorite week of all. She completely monopolized the self portrait and All About Me book; my son didn’t have a chance with those, the poor guy. She did share the memory game with him, but not until she’d played it a few times herself. When I was a little girl, I was very into the Memory game, and I had as much fun sharing this one with my babies as they had playing it.
Week 3: Ladybugs
- Ladybug Bingo
- Ladybug Counting
That’s right, Ladybug Bingo! This game teaches identification of uppercase and lowercase letters, and the kids had such a blast playing.
- Shapes Poster
- Fish Art
This was my son’s first time using a glue stick, and I think getting to use a new tool like that made him feel like a big boy. He was so proud of himself for knowing all the shapes too, and I was very impressed with how neatly he glued them into place.I was even more impressed when I watched my daughter do the Fish Art activity. When I looked at the foam stickers, I just couldn’t visualize any sea creatures, but in the hands of my daughter, those seemingly random foam stickers were quickly transformed into colorful fishies. I love how this brought out her creativity!
