L’Oréal Magic Skin BB Cream Review
There was a time when I could get up, wash my face, dab on a bit of moisturizer, and my skin would be ready for the day. Now that I’m in my mid-thirties, the fresh-faced look leaves me looking anything but fresh. Instead, what you’ll see on me is a lovely combination of tired and blotchy. My aging skin needs a little something more now, but I don’t like wearing a ton of makeup, not to mention that I’m often way too busy (and lazy) to bother with it.
I’ve had some success with tinted moisturizers, but when I heard about miraculous, multi-tasking BB Creams, I chased down the bandwagon and immediately hopped on. Four brands later, however, and I was back to feeling like miracles just don’t happen. Even so, being the beauty product addict that I am, I couldn’t refuse a tube of the new L’Oréal Paris Magic BB Cream when SheSpeaks.com offered me the opportunity to try it.
Like all BB Creams, L’Oréal’s Magic Skin Beautifier makes a lot of promises. Just look at all the wonderful things they say this cream can do:
- Primes to smooth skin’s texture
- Perfects to hide imperfections
- Hydrates for all day moisture
- Corrects skin for a healthy looking, even complexion
These are things we all want, right? I definitely do, so I started using this as soon as it arrived. I chose the Fair shade to match my pasty, white skin. When you first squeeze this stuff out of the tube, it’s a whitish color and is somewhere between thin and thick in consistency. You apply this with your fingertips, and the cream automatically adjusts to match your skin tone. I love that!
I also really love how smoothly this cream applies. One of my biggest complaints about the other BB Creams I’ve tried is that the application was very much the opposite of smooth, and it seemed like I had to use a ton of product just to get all of my face covered. This one is very lightweight and just glided on. My skin definitely looked and felt smoother, and it created the perfect base for my make-up. I’d say this provides light coverage, so it might not be enough if you’re trying to hide any serious flaws, but that’s how I felt about those other BB Creams too.
I’m not sure I’m seeing any major changes to my skin after using this for a few weeks, but my skin definitely looks better when this product is applied. Most of the time, I did apply a separate moisturizer first because, you know, it’s winter, and winter gives me the dry peelies. I wasn’t about to mess with that.
I should also mention that this cream does not contain sunscreen like a lot of other ones do. To me, this is a big plus. While I’m very aware of the importance of protecting my skin from the sun, my current lifestyle does not require me to wear sunscreen all the time, and I’d rather not apply it to my skin when I don’t need it. I’m so grateful to have found a product that gives me a little more freedom in that area.
Whether you’ve tried BB Creams before and, like me, were disappointed, or if they’re brand new to you, this is a great one to start with. L’Oréal Paris Magic BB Cream retails for $10.95 for 1 fl oz. It’s available in four shades (Fair, Light, Warm, and Deep) and is sold at mass food and drug retailers nationwide. Click here to find out more.
Thank you to SheSpeaks and L’Oréal for providing complimentary product for review. No other compensation was provided. All opinions are my own.

I haven’t tried a BB cream yet. I like that you say this one is smooth, I don’t like thick creams.
