Kohl’s Cares Features Leo Lionni this Spring with Gifts that Give Back
Kohl’s is one of my favorite stores, and it’s almost always the first store that pops into mind when I need to go shopping. They have an amazing selection and their prices are hard to beat. But I don’t want to talk about clothing today.
If you’ve ever been to a Kohl’s store, you’ve probably noticed the racks of books and stuffed animals by the registers: these are part of the Kohl’s Cares collection, which is my favorite thing about the store.
Kohl’s Cares is a program that supports kids’ causes around the country. Every purchase helps kids, because 100% of the net profit from the sale of a Kohl’s Cares item is donated to a children’s health or education initiative. And here’s the best part: each item is only $5.00. I think that’s amazing! For five bucks you can get a book or a stuffed animal from the book; not only are you supporting the creative community and encouraging kids to read, but you also have the added benefit of knowing your purchase serves double duty by providing help to kids in the United States.
Over $274 million has been raised since Kohl’s Cares launched in 2000, and that money has gone to places like hospital partners, the Associates in Action volunteer program, and environmental initiatives with the EPA.
The Kohl’s Cares line changes from time to time, and right now they’re featuring an adorable and award-winning line of children’s books from renowned author/illustrator Leo Lionni, as well as complementing accessories. Again, each item is only $5.00 and 100% of the net profit benefit’s children nationwide.
The featured Leo Lionni items include:
- Frederick book and mouse soft toy
- A Color of His Own book and chameleon soft toy
- It’s Mine! book and frog soft toy
- Cornelius book and crocodile soft toy
- Swimmy book
- Tote bag
- 101 Kids Activities book
These books are so cute, and they teach important values like friendship, sharing, diversity, and teamwork. I love that each book has an accompanying soft toy to help bring the stories to life. And luckily for adults, the tote bag provides a way to carry your things in style while helping others in need.
You can learn more about the Kohl’s Care program and partners here, and when you’re ready to shop the collection, pop into your nearest Kohl’s store or shop for the full line at Kohls.com. And hurry – this collection is only available until April!

What a great program! I don’t really shop at Kohls very often, but want to start because they carry quite a bit of Disney items. This is just another reason to start going there. The stuffed animals are cute and would make great little gifts for my friend’s kids.

This sounds like such a wonderful program. I wish there was a Kohl’s near me. I visited one in NY a few years back and I really enjoyed it!
