Incredibles 2 in Theaters Friday + Jack-Jack’s Cookie Num Num Recipe
I LOVE THE INCREDIBLES. I thought I’d mention that before proceeding.
My husband and I saw the first movie when it was in theaters. When it was available on DVD, we didn’t waste any time in buying it. After that, we waited…and waited…and waited. We didn’t know if there would ever be a sequel, but we kept our fingers crossed and monitored the internet for signs one might be in the works. Needless to say, when the sequel was officially announced, we were both ecstatic.
The wait is finally over because The Incredibles 2 will be in theaters beginning this Friday, June 15th! My family and I were invited to a screening of the movie last night, and let me tell you: it was well worth the wait. Maybe my love for the original has biased me, but I genuinely think they did a wonderful job bringing our favorite Supers back to the big screen, and the rest of my family is in complete agreement.
In “Incredibles 2”, Helen is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet, Dash, and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
The story picks up where it left off, and the characters are every bit as lovable as they were the first time around. Jack-Jack steals the show as he demonstrates a multitude of amusing and imposing powers, all while being “super” cute. Edna was my favorite character from the first movie, and I was happy they were able to fit her into this one and make her as funny as ever. So yes, most of the cast returns, but we’re also treated to some new supers. Some of the fresh faces you’ll meet are Voyd, who creates voids that allow objects to appear and disappear and who is Elastigirl’s biggest fan; Krushauer, who crushes things with his mind; and Reflux, a frog-like fellow whose power is to heave hot lava.
Energy, excitement, and comedy await you in this second installment of The Incredibles. My kids walked (more like leaped) out of the theater wanting to be super themselves, and I left wishing I had a baby Jack-Jack of my own. Nothing will ever make me feel the way the first movie did, but this one is pretty super in its own right.
I must confess something to you guys. Despite my long-time love of caped crusaders, lately I’ve been feeling all superhero-ed out. We’ve been presented with so much of the stuff over that past few years, and most of it just isn’t fun. There’s a whole lot of darkness and very little charm to such movies these days, and Incredibles 2 is a welcome reprieve from all of that. If you’ve been having the same feelings about current movies, then I think you’ll be especially fond of the new Incredibles, and even if you haven’t been, there’s still plenty about to love about Incredibles 2.
Get your tickets in advance so you can guarantee you have a seat for the showing you want. Purchase Incredibles 2 tickets from Fandango, and you’ll get one of two FREE movie posters while supplies last!
Last but not least, we have Jack-Jack’s Cookie Num Num Recipe. I hope you enjoy it as much as Jack-Jack does in the movie!
