I’m Going to the Prom!
This post is brought to you by JenJenHouse.com.
Guess what, everyone? I’m going to the prom!
Sort of. I’m embarking on my first-ever cruise soon, and there are several theme nights that have me really excited. My favorite one, and what I’m most looking forward to, is Prom Night!
Just like when I was shopping for my high school prom dress, I find myself being very particular and needing The Perfect Dress. If I’m being honest, that happens pretty much anytime I have to shop for an event, but this is special. It’s the prom, after all!
The difference this time, however, is I’ve decided to shop online. It’s difficult for me to get out and spend a day shopping for a dress in the stores. I’m busy with two young children, housework, a husband who apparently expects things like dinner and attention (hi honey!), this blog, and a leg that still isn’t 100% after being on crutches for months, so I’m unable to spend a lot of time walking on it. All those things just further complicate what is already a stressful project. (Dress shopping is only one step up from jeans shopping, which is tied with swimsuit shopping. Right?)
So, as you might expect, the idea of being able to buy my dress online sounds really good to me! I’ve found plenty of online shops, but I want to share one that I found particularly impressive: www.JenJenHouse.com.
At JenJenHouse.com you’ll find a huge variety of dresses for any special occasion (proms, weddings, you name it). Their prom selection has something for everyone, whether you want long or short, understated or over-the-top, in just about every color under the sun. Most of their dresses are customizable with a number of different color options, and you’ll find a convenient color chart for every dress.
I still haven’t decided which dress is my absolute favorite, but I’ve narrowed it down to three:
First, I love this pink chiffon beauty:
I absolutely love its unique ankle length, rather than the usual floor length – shorter ladies, I know you’re with me on this one! The ruffles and bow provide just the right amount of “girly” without being too “princessy”, and while there are plenty of other color options, I would definitely choose the pink shown.
I’m also really fond of this pretty A-Line style:
This dress is gorgeous in a classic silver. I love that this dress looks elegant and sophisticated without looking like something for a different age bracket. I also really love the straps; the older I get, the less I want to deal with strapless bras and dresses that need to be adjusted throughout a night of dancing.
And finally, this one-shoulder gown caught my eye:
I love that it’s A-Line and offers a bit of balance at the bottom, but the drop waist makes it look a little slinky and slimming. The one shoulder strap is great, because it gives you support and protection against wardrobe malfunctions, but it’s a nice change from the standard two-strap gown.
I have strong feelings about all these dresses, so I’m going to have to sleep on it some more. You wouldn’t believe how long it took me to narrow it down to just three!

I like both the pink and silver one. The pink looks fun and the silver one looks elegant.

I absolutely LOVE the first one. It is very cute and still gives you that princess feel. I didn’t have a great prom, but it wasn’t bad either. 😀

They’re all beautiful, but I really like the pink one best. Or maybe the silver. The black is good too!
These are all great. I think the first is my fave!
They did not have awesome online stores like this when I went to my prom. You went to the closest department store and were stuck with whatever that had in stock. Now you can shop online and can choose your dream dress!

Exactly! I honestly didn’t care for either of the prom dresses I had in high school; they just happened to be what fit and didn’t cost a million dollars. This is so much more fun.
I love the silver one. So elegant! Have fun on your cruise!!

I love them all but I would end up wearing the black.

I love the pink one but that black on does say elegant without the flash. I’m more of a hide in the corner girl so I could see me in the black one wishing I was the girl in the pink swirling around the dance floor. Have a great time on your vacation!
