Holmes Whole House Humidifier with WeMo Technology
This post is brought to you by Holmes. All opinions are 100% mine.
When I look out my window this time of year, I’m treated to a gorgeous view of red and gold leaves. Soon enough, the vibrant colors of autumn will give way to glistening snow and shimmering icicles. I feel fortunate to live someplace where we get to experience the beauty of each season, but the colder months are accompanied by something not so beautiful: dryness. When the humidity drops, my skin shows it’s displeasure by becoming embarrassingly flaky. My hair declares its disdain by developing so much static that you can almost hear it snap, crackle, and pop when I brush it. On especially dry days, I’ve been known to wake up with a nose bleed. Yeah. Dryness. Not a fan.
I’ve got a humidifier that I use in my bedroom during the winter months, but I’ve always wanted something bigger and better. Most of my day is spent on a different level from my bedroom, and I certainly wasn’t lugging my messy little humidifier from room to room with me. Should I get several little humidifiers and spread them around? Sure, but let’s not pretend I’m going to do a good job of keeping up with filling and otherwise maintaining multiple humidifiers at once. I knew there had to better solution, and I was right: the Holmes Whole House Smart Humidifier.
Because it’s a whole house humidifier, it’s quite a bit larger than what I’m accustomed to using. Still, it doesn’t take up that much space, and it’s a rather nice-looking piece of furniture that blends well into the room. This baby includes two easy-to-replace filters for cleaner air and 2 easy-to-fill, two-gallon tanks that enable a run time of up to 60 hours. 60 hours! I can run this humidifier for longer periods of time and still not have to fill it up as often AND it covers more space. I am officially spoiled.
Sounds great and looks good, right? I haven’t even gotten to the best part yet. The Holmes Whole House Smart Humidifier is WeMo-enabled, so you can use your smart phone (or other device) to manage it from anywhere!
Once you install the free WeMo app (available from the Apple app store, Google Play, or Amazon app store), you have the ability to do all sorts of nifty and convenient things, like check your home’s humidity level and make adjustments, receive alerts when the water level is low or the filters need to be changed, and schedule when you want your humidifier to run. Seriously; you’re going to want your whole life to be WeMo-enabled. Of course, you always have the option of operating it directly via the control panel too. Have I mentioned that I’m spoiled now?
Despite it’s size, it’s surprising light, so it’s relatively easy to relocate it if you want to. I wouldn’t mind, however, if they added some kind of handle or grip on the sides of the humidifier to make it easier for short-armed people like myself to carry it. One other issue I ran into with this was that I had a really difficult time removing the caps from the water tanks the first time I filled them. It’s been a breeze since then, and maybe it’s just my unit, but you might want to have your husband on standby the first time you set this up. I couldn’t have done it without mine.
If the dry air of winter bothers you half as much as it bothers me, you’re going to love having a Holmes Whole House Smart Humidifier around. It is so nice to have one machine that takes care of the entire house, and the ability to control it from anywhere is so handy. Just today, I was out to lunch and I remembered that I left the humidifier on. Not a problem. I simply whipped out my phone and used the WeMo app to turn it off. (So spoiled.) Keeping the air in my home comfortable has never been easier!

My house definitely needs something like this! It never gets cold enough to kill the mold so we have to use humidifiers to clean the air in our area.
This is perfect for my sister–she just bought a house and it’s having issues in the basement-humidity stinks and she needs to get rid of it. Great post-thanks for sharing

Ok,that is really cool. I love the ability to control it remotely. I don’t currently have a humidifier for the house, aside from the little one we use when the kids are sick.

This sounds like a great way to put moisture in the air and help prevent the dry air from the heater in the Winter. I like this humidifier because it is easy to use and can be used in a big room.
We could really use one of these. It’s nice it works for the whole house.
I haven’t heard of WeMo before, but that does sound really convenient
That may be the nicest humidifier I have ever seen! It looks like it would do such a great job. I live in a cold climate and need a good humidifier. I will have to look into this.
I plan on getting another humidifier this winter, the one in the bedroom has really helped. Thank you for the product informaiton.
I think its pretty neat that the humidifer has an app to use.
We really need something like this in our house. We have very dry air now that we need to have the heat on.
This would be perfect for our home.
This is something i could really use in my home. My air is always dry as we burn wood with a wood stove.
I like that it is light and can be moved anywhere
That is really nice and I love that it has an app.How cool!
I would love this for the nursery. Great way to help with air quality and sleeping well for the babies
We use firewood to heat our home, so I have experience the same problems you listed. Adding moisture to the air is helpful. This humidifier would be something to look into. I do like the fact that it is easy to move around.
I need to call my husband right now and have him read this!
