Get World Class Pediatric Care Close to Home from CHOP at Virtua
Disclaimer: Many thanks to CHOP at Virtua for sponsoring today’s story and encouraging me to seek out their services when my child is hurt or ill. Today’s post is sponsored by CHOP at Virtua, by my love for their pediatric care is all my own!
Think about the last time you sat down, propped up your feet, and said, “This parenting stuff is super easy!”
Are you laughing as hysterically as I am right now? I’ll wait while you compose yourself.
Now let’s travel back to reality. It goes without saying that parenting is, in fact, super hard. Obviously there are the day-to-day concerns all parents deal with: kids arguing, crazy schedules, picky eaters, housework, etc. But to take it one step further: there is also the terrible fear of something bad happening to our kids.
We do everything in our power to give them healthy, happy lives, but when it comes to problems like injuries and illnesses, we can’t protect them from everything. It’s a scary truth, but kids get hurt and they get sick. I don’t like to think about the worst-case-scenarios, but they do happen, and as a parent I want the peace of mind that comes with knowing good children’s medical care is nearby if we need it.
Thankfully, other South Jersey parents and I can rest easier at night knowing that Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has services available in Voorhees (Virtua Voorhees Hospital) and Mount Holly (Virtua Memorial Hospital). Those of you who live in New Jersey might already be familiar with Virtua, which has been a pillar of medical care in our communities for decades; what you might not know is that five years ago, CHOP (commonly ranked as the top children’s hospital in the United States) and Virtua partnered together to bring world-class pediatric care to our region. This means South Jersey residents have quick access to CHOP specialists in fields like urology, dermatology, pulmonology, and more. CHOP doctors are also available in the Virtua Health and Wellness Center in Voorhees (next to the hospital).
The services offered by CHOP at Virtua include:
- Emergency services
- Inpatient care
- Inpatient consultations for cardiology (heart), endocrinology (diabetes), and neurology
- Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Virtua Voorhees
- Level II Special Care Nursery at Virtua Memorial
- Intensive care for kids
- Sleep medicine
- Imaging and radiology (with sedation when needed)
I am thrilled to know that the highly-skilled doctors and nurses of CHOP at Virtua are so close to home. Of course I have to say that I hope I’ll never need them, but they’re here, and that means every child in South Jersey has convenient access to specialized pediatric care from the top children’s hospital in the country. I don’t know about you, but I’ll be sleeping a little more soundly tonight. Living just outside of North Jersey, I’ve heard so much about Virtua Vorhees. I didn’t know that CHOP offered services outside of Philly – great to know!
