Save Money on Just About Everything with an Entertainment Book
Do you make New Year’s resolutions? I typically don’t, because I’m terrible about sticking to them, and they end up feeling restrictive and inflexible. Instead of a firm and specific resolution, I’ve found that something more abstract and broad can lead to much more positive change in my life. For example, instead of saying “I resolve to read 24 new books this year,” I might say “I plan to read more.” In doing so, I’m not setting a goal that, realistic as it may seem on January 1st, can end up being too lofty and unreachable due to life getting in the way. This approach allows me to adapt as obstacles or opportunities come my way.
My biggest goal this year is to save money. I’m not setting a firm amount or listing specific things I must get rid of or change; I’m simply making it a point to think about my spending habits and purchases, and cut some corners when I happen to see a corner that can be cut.
There are plenty of ways you can do this, and if you also have a “save money” goal for 2014, you might be interested in one of the easy ways I plan to save some dollars: the Entertainment book.
Entertainment is a huge book of coupons that can be used for a variety of purchases, including dining out, travel, and area attractions. Entertainment is tailored to specific geographic regions, so you know all your coupon savings can be used where you live. Additionally, there is also an online component for Entertainment savings. In addition to your book’s printed coupons, you’ll find web coupons that you can use for online purchases.
There’s even an Entertainment app for your smart phone (both Android and iPhone). It’s great to have instant access to coupons; whether you pop into a store and want to check for discounts, or you’re out with your family and decide to go for a spontaneous round of mini-golf, you’ll have a supply of digital coupons right there in your pocket!
I’ve been looking through my book, plotting all the ways I can save a little money but still make sure we have options for family fun and date nights. I expected to find coupons in here for most of our favorite restaurants, but I was surprised at how many offers there are for nearby activities like museums, movies, arcades, and more. Right now I’m most excited about some coupons for roller skating. As you can see from the picture, these are really great discounts – the skating tickets both offer a buy one get one free admission!
No matter where you live in the US, I think you can get a lot of use out of Entertainment. If you want an easy way to save some extra money this year, make sure to check it out! Purchasing a book is considered a “membership,” and you can view the different regions and options on Entertainment.com. Now you’ll have to excuse me, but I have a shopping trip to plan. I’m going to be taking advantage of a Carter’s coupon–my girl keeps outgrowing her new clothes!

I live in Canada and we have this entertainment book as well. It is a great idea and we were amazed how many coupons we actually did use. For us it was a good way to try new restaurants and did find a few that we became regulars at! Best Regards, Wendy

This is awesome! The only times I have ever bought these books has been when church or school groups have sold them, but I didn’t realize you could get them online. That’s a great option when no one is selling them for fund-raising efforts; I’ll have to look into this! 🙂

We used to always buy the entertainment book for our area. I have no idea why we stopped. Maybe because at one point I quit eating out a lot.

When I was a young girl I use to sell these to my family. They were very useful. Not once has my son sold these. I wish he would because these books are packed full of savings.

We bought one of these from a local high school student in the neighborhood last year but we never really used it.
We always buy a local coupon book that is sold by a nearby school system, but this is something I need to look into!

I love these books! They help me save so much during the year – especially on those fun places that are out of our budget without coupons/savings to take my little ones.

I don’t usually make new year resolutions either because I tend to not keep them. That book is amazing. I bought one a year ago from my son’s school as a fundraiser and we got some amazing deals with it. Totally worth it.
