Easy Cheeseburger Pizza Recipe with Blender Pizza Dough
It’s Friday, so that means pizza! We take our pizza very seriously around here, and we make our own so we can control the ingredients and have everything just as we like it. Normally, the process begins with me purchasing some sort of organic dough or pre-made crust, but I tend to run into two problems with this strategy: these products aren’t always easy to find and we sometimes still end up with ingredients we don’t want. The obvious solution is to make my own dough, but my old, damaged wrists aren’t up to the task of kneading, and I haven’t had an appliance fit to do the job. Plus, it sounds long and complicated and not much like something I’m going to want to mess with after a long day at work.
When I flipped through the pages of the recipe booklet that came with my new Vitamix E310 Explorian Series Blender, I was thrilled to find directions for Thin Crust Pizza Dough. Could this be the solution I’ve been looking for? Based on how uncomplicated the recipe seemed, I was hopeful. The kids, who love to help assemble pizzas, couldn’t wait to try it out with our favorite Cheeseburger Pizza Recipe.
Easy Cheeseburger Pizza Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 Thin Crust Pizza Dough
- 1/2 lbs. Ground Beef
- 1 Cup Tomato Sauce
- 1 Cup Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 Cup Cheddar Cheese
- Onion Powder
- Pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees
- Brown ground beef. Drain.
- Add tomato sauce, onion powder, and pepper to ground beef, and heat for 5 minutes.
- Stretch pizza dough onto a 12-inch round pan or form a 12-inch circle on a regular baking sheet.
- Distribute ground beef mixture evenly on the pizza dough.
- Top with the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes.
You might have noticed that the Vitamix site classifies their dough recipe as “advanced”, but I can’t figure out why. If you can hit a button on a blender, you can make that recipe.
From beginning to end, the pizza is simple enough even for a beginner to tackle on a weeknight. While the dough is rising, I brown the meat and prep the other ingredients. Once the dough is ready, it takes just a few a minutes to stretch it into pizza shape and add the toppings. Pop it into the oven, and your work is done. (You should probably add a vegetable while you’re waiting, but if you don’t, I won’t tell.)
My kids have visions of smoothies and milkshakes dancing in their heads, but personally, I’m looking forward to making my own nut butters. The Vitamix E310 is powerful enough to pulverize almonds into a smooth paste that the kids like for sandwiches and that I use for baking breakfast breads. There are so many applications for nut butters, and now I’ll be able to easily make it any time I want. I can keep it salt-free and sugar-free the way I like it, or I can change it up and add some flavors like maple syrup if any of us is in the mood. When fall rolls around, expect to see some soup recipes from me too. The ten variable speeds allow you to create anything you can imagine, from smooth purees to chunky salsas. Experimenting is going to be so much fun!
One last, very important thing that I must mention about this blender: it’s SO EASY to clean. Good news, right? One of the biggest issues I have with small kitchen appliances is that they are a pain to clean, and that sometimes keeps me from using them. The Vitamix E310 container is actually dishwasher safe, and even if you don’t have a dishwasher or don’t want to use it, it’s way easier to maintain than any other blender I’ve used. Just put a little warm water and dish soap into the container, blend for 30-60 seconds, rinse, and voila! All clean. Whichever way you go, nothing about the container needs to be disassembled. It’s wonderful.
The Vitamix E310 Explorian Series Blender can be found online and in stores like Amazon, Best Buy, Williams-Sonoma, Macy’s, and Bed Bath & Beyond.
