Disney Villainous Board Game + Giveaway
If there’s one thing Disney does right, it’s creating villains we love to hate. Who am I kidding? Some of them we just love. Well, now you can be your favorite Disney villain when you play Wonder Forge’s Villainous board game.
Let me start by saying that it’s a beautiful game. The quality of the components is excellent and the artwork is wonderfully executed, making the whole thing feel so very Disney. Villainous is more than just a pretty face though; it’s a darn fun and interesting game.
To play, gather 2 to 6 fun people and choose one of the following characters: Queen of Hearts, Jafar, Prince John, Maleficent, Captain Hook, or my own favorite, Ursula. Each villain has its own board, cards, special abilities, and a story-based objective to achieve.
Since each villain has different abilities and objectives, each player’s strategy will be different. You operate in your own little realm, but you still need to pay attention to your opponents and their objectives. If you can manage to stay on top of your own game AND theirs, you may be able to block them from achieving their objectives. First villain to reach their goal is the winner, so blocking other players is key.
Fans of board games are going to enjoying playing Villainous, but fans of Disney who like to play board game are going to be in heaven. Aside from it being visually authentic, each villain’s world is part of their game play. The story lines and characters you love are all part of the action. Once you see this game in person, you’ll to want try out every villain, interacting with his story and learning how to achieve his objective. It’s all very magical. You’re going to like it.
Villainous is recommended for ages 10 and up, and this is one of those times I agree with the recommendation. It’s not exactly complicated, but it’s not simple either. It’s played a bit differently from your average board game, and it might take kids a little time to wrap their heads around the way of things. Play your first game all the way through, but treat it as a learning experience. By the end of the second game, you’ll be hooked. (No pun intended.)
I wouldn’t mind seeing an expansion pack or two with some more villains. Evil Queen anyone? Even if that doesn’t happen, I’m perfectly okay continuing to play the game as it is. Ursula forever!
Sometimes it’s so good to be bad!
