Our #DisneySide @Home Birthday Celebration!
My baby boy just turned 4, and I couldn’t think of a better occasion to show off our Disney Side. So, I invited all of our favorite people to come over and help us celebrate!
We were sent a complimentary Disney Side @Home Celebration kit to help us plan our special event, and it was filled with all sorts of goodies. From decorations to temporary tattoos, we were all set up to spread some Disney magic. We added in a few Disney touches of our own, including a fun game of Pin the Nose on Mickey!
The kids had a ball with this one. (Some of them even managed to pin the nose on Mickey without peeking!) All the excitement really helped them work up an appetite, so lunch was up next. I’ve already shared my Easy Mini Mickey Mouse Pizza recipe that I used, and let me tell you again: these were a huge hit. I think mini pizzas in entertaining shapes are going to be my thing from now on.
Could they be any cuter? If you want to serve something fun that the kids will quickly gobble up, this is definitely the way to go. I’m a fan because they took very little time and effort to make, and when you’re in the middle of running a party for a bunch of screaming kids, you really appreciate anything that makes the process a little bit easier. The yumminess didn’t end with the pizza though; my son really wanted chocolate cupcakes for his birthday, and I couldn’t disappoint the birthday boy.
They were all homemade of course–nothing weird or artificial in these cupcakes. My son’s favorite color is blue, so I just whipped up a batch of white icing and added in some Nature’s Flavors Natural Color in blue. I had a mini meltdown when I couldn’t locate my Wilton 1M tip and had to ice these with a spatula instead, but my son and his friends didn’t know the difference and couldn’t have been happier with the cupcakes. I’m sure the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse baking cups that I used didn’t hurt either.
My son loved being the center of attention at a Mickey Mouse-themed celebration, and the other children had just as much fun. Who doesn’t love Mickey, right? He makes everyone smile!
Our guests got to take a little Disney home with them too. Our goody bags were filled with treats like organic candies, craisins, and Disney stickers and tattoos. I used the new HP printer that I was sent for being part of the #HPSmartMom Panel to adorn the goody bags with some Mickey Thank You Labels that I made up. (I’ll share them as soon as I figure out the best way to do that.) Their faces really lit up when they saw Mickey on the bag!
The next morning, my son woke up and crawled into bed with me. This is typical behavior for him, but this time, along with giving me his morning hug and kiss, he told me that that was the best birthday party ever. Then, my daughter (possibly the most loving little girl in the world) took down one of the decorations and taped it to his bed so that he would always be able to remember the celebration. Don’t I have the sweetest children?
This month, we’re taking the kids to Disney for the very first time, and this party was just what we needed to get into the Disney spirit. Every day, my daughter asks me how many more days until we go to Disney World, and it makes us all even more excited. I remember visiting the park every year when I was a little girl, and I’m thrilled to finally be able to share the tradition with my own children. It was so nice to have a little Disney fun at home before we get to be there in person.

There is something fun and exciting about Disney. It is interesting when our children come to enjoy the same characters we enjoyed as children.

i like the rustic icing you did on the cupcakes. I actually hate the extra mess that using a pastry bag and tip makes, that then all the wasted icing OH NO 🙂
