Last night, my family and I attended opening night of Disney On Ice presents Frozen at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. As big fans of both the movie and Broadway show, my family and I were happy to add Disney On Ice to our list of Frozen experiences. And while I love attending all types of live performances, ice skating has held a special place in my heart ever since my first class trip to the Ice Capades back in 1985. My expectations were pretty high for this one, and I can tell you that the show did not disappoint!
Hosts Mickey and Minnie kick off the event with their pals Donald and Goofy and your favorite Toy Story, The Lion King, and Finding Nemo characters. Don’t worry, they didn’t forget the princesses! You’ll also get to see Ariel, Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, and their male counterparts take to the ice. It was an unexpected but very nice surprise, and the little pre-show celebration really got us pumped up for the main event.
And the main event was awesome! You probably don’t find that too surprising. If any story deserves to be performed on ice, then Frozen is certainly it, right? What you get here is a full retelling of the story you know and love, only with dazzling ice skating and impressive special effects. You’ll follow Anna on her quest to find her sister Elsa, meet new friends like Olaf, and sing along to your favorite Frozen songs. The entire time, you’re treated to details like only Disney can do them in the form of pyrotechnics, colorful lights, and even snow. The costumes were probably my favorite part though.
Can you imagine trying to ice skate while wearing a Sven costume? And check out the trolls!
The ice skating was beautiful, and all those other details really keep both parents and kids engaged and in awe. My daughter and my son were enthralled with the show from beginning to end, and my husband and I were just as delighted by the performance. Disney On Ice presents Frozen was so much fun to experience, and it’s the perfect opportunity for creating unforgettable family memories!

It was just here in Dallas too!! My little isn’t quite old enough
I will have to find out if they’d be performing in an area near us. I think my grandson is old enough to appreciate the show.
I took my kids to Disney on Ice once and it was wonderful! I will have to check out this show, NJ is a drive but not a bad one for me from NH.
I wish I lived a little closer. My daughter would love to see this!
I hope they come by us. Would love to take my granddaughter to see it
My granddaughter would love this
This looks like it would be an awesome show to see. I have never been to any events like this and my granddaughter would have a blast.
We took our 2 oldest to see Disney on ice when they were small and we had a blast, hopefully we get to take our 2 youngest soon.
Looks like a great time. my 8 year old would have a blast and have many memories to last a life time
The trolls look awesome!
We also have Disney on Ice here in the Philippines and it has become our annual Christmas tradition to watch the show. As a huge disney fan, it brings so much joy to see my favorite characters come to life. 🙂
