This post is brought to you by SunPower. All opinions are 100% my own.
As you know, the Game on Mom blog is a big supporter of anything environment-friendly, especially when it’s also wallet-friendly, so today we’re excited to talk to you about solar power.
If you live in the states of California, New York, Colorado, Hawaii, or Arizona, and you pay more than $100 a month in electricity costs, and have a household income of at least $100,000, you’ll definitely want to look into solar power options provided by SunPower.
We’ll come back to the incredible solar options from SunPower in a second, but let’s talk first about solar energy in general, and how it can benefit you.
- Solar power systems will deliver significant savings on your utility bills right away, and will help keep costs down as utility rates continue to rise.
- When you purchase a solar power system, you may be eligible for Federal Investment Tax Credits up to 30%, not to mention State and local solar power incentives.
- In many states, homeowners with solar power systems may be eligible for net energy metering programs that provide financial credits from utility companies.
- Generating your own emission-free solar power reduces your carbon footprint as well as your reliance on fossil fuels.
- Solar power can increase the value of your home.
- With solar panels on the roof of your home, owners of electric vehicles can offset increased electricity costs with emission-free fuel from the sun.
- Solar systems are reliable and typically warranted for around 25 years, and there is very little maintenance required.
- Solar systems can be purchased outright or through a lease program.
- Solar systems are installed in the US every 3.2 seconds, and are great for employment: it’s one of the fastest growing industries in the country, and provides around 150,000 jobs today.
Those are some huge incentives, and that’s only a short list! Learn more about saving with SunPower.
Now that we’ve had a quick review of solar energy and the benefits it can provide, let’s talk about SunPower. Not all solar panels are created equal, and you can count on SunPower to provide the best.
- SunPower panels are the most efficient on the market, which means SunPower systems require fewer panels. This is great if you have limited space on your roof, and it also means SunPower panels will generate more power and more savings over the life of the system.
- SunPower’s Maxeon ® solar cells are fundamentally different from conventional solar panels, resulting in superior performance, reliability, quality, and aesthetics (which are important, let’s face it).
- SunPower has been around nearly 30 years, and has manufactured more than one billion solar cells (not to mention they’ve installed more than 4.5 gigawatts of solar around the world – that’s enough to power Paris for an entire year!).
- SunPower has received praise from labs around the world for their reliability and long-term performance.
- SunPower’s systems are industry-leading, and have a 25-year power and product warranty. Your panels will be guaranteed to provide more power over their life than conventional ones.
In other words, SunPower is the crème de la crème. To learn more about the company, make sure to check out their informational website. You can also check out the SunPower Communities page to see questions, answers, and discussions with actual SunPower customers.

Oh what a great sweepstakes. Thanks so much for telling us about it!
We would really love to do solar but almost signed with a company here in CT and then backed out. Their deal sounded too good to be true and when we did the math it didn’t add up. I would LOVE to do solar!

Sweet!
After seeing our powerbill after moving into our new home, I definitely would love to have some Solar Panels installed. I know it can be costly upfront, but think it would definitely be worth it in the long run. Now that we actually own a home, it is something we are seriously looking into.

I have always wanted to do solar panels but our HOA is super strict and will not allow it. Maybe someday when we move to a HOA free place.

I was just thinking about solar panels earlier today. Not just for green reasons either. Nothing is worse in today’s modern day than having no electricity. At least it would be less of a concern with something like this. We can’t live without our electronics!
