A Complete Clean with Fresh Guard by Efferdent
This post is brought to you by Efferdent and Smiley360.
You’re probably wondering why we’re talking about Efferdent here at Game on Mom. We’re not suggesting you need dentures, we promise. We’re actually talking about Efferdent’s new line of cleaning products for clear braces, retainers, and mouth guards, called Fresh Guard.
If you have any of those dental devices mentioned above, you know how difficult it can be to feel like you’re really getting them clean. And if you’re using your toothbrush to clean them, stop that right now! Toothbrushes can actually damage your devices by scratching them, and I know you don’t want to do that. Thinking about using regular mouthwash instead? Don’t do that either, because it can ruin the plastic. Instead, go out and get yourself some Fresh Guard – I promise you’ll be glad you did!
I’ve been using Fresh Guard on the mouth guard I use at night to prevent grinding my teeth, and for the first time since I got it, I really feel like it’s getting clean. There are two different Fresh Guard products, and I recommend them both for different reasons.
Fresh Guard comes in a soak and in a wipe. The soak comes in a little plastic pouch like those powders you use to flavor your water, and the wipes are in a pouch like a handi-wipe. I’m only pointing this out to ensure you don’t accidentally pour Fresh Guard into your water bottle. 🙂
Using Fresh Guard couldn’t be easier. To use the soak, just grab a clean cup or bowl and fill it with enough warm water to fully submerge your device. Next add the Fresh Guard soaking powder and watch the water turn blue and foamy. Add your device (or even its plastic case) to the mixture and let it soak for 5 minutes. The solution will turn from blue to clear when it’s finished. Take out your device and rinse it thoroughly, and make sure you don’t soak it longer than 10 minutes.
Soaking your device in Fresh Guard will kill 99.9% of odor-causing bacteria, remove build-up of mouth film, and remove yellowing and stains. You’ll definitely be able to tell a difference!
I suggest following a soak with the Fresh Guard wipes. The soak gets your device amazingly clean, but the smell and taste have a hint of something bleach-y. Following up with the super-minty wipes will take care of that and also give you fresh, minty breath! Using the wipes is easy and fast, and they’re a great way to get a quick clean when you don’t have time to soak.
If you use any kind of removable dental device (aside from dentures), Fresh Guard by Efferdent will come in handy. You can purchase Fresh Guard at most major retailers nationwide. To learn more, visit the Frest Guard web site and sign up for their newsletter to receive coupons and exclusive offers!

Sounds Like A Great Product I Must Try & Use On My Retainer Great Review!
This could be really useful in a couple of years if the kids have retainers and the like. I’m always a bit unsure how to clean something like that!

I’ve got a mouth guard because of my TMJ, and I’ve never felt like I was taking good care of it. This will be helpful.
Interesting, but I don’t use these things. I have been told you can use Efferdent to get tomato-based stains out of dishes (the kind of stains you get from putting them in the microwave.)
I used on my son’s retainer. Worked well
never heard of this but will definitely look at it if my kids end up with retainer. Wonder how it would work for caps.

How handy! My daughter has a retainer that we’ve kept clean by rinsing with mouth wash, I’ll have to give this a go as it definitely seems like a better solution (no pun intended).

Efferdent’s Fresh Guard products sound great for cleaning. I must try them on my retainer.
I have never heard of this before but it would be perfect to use with my retainer. I am always looking for new products which will work on them.
Sounds like a wonderful product if you wear a mouth device.
