Burley Nomad Bike Trailer: Take All of Your Gear on Your Next Bike Ride!
One of my family’s favorite things to do is go biking and exploring. My husband and I did this a lot before the babies came along, which slowed down our exploring quite a bit. No surprise there! But now that the kids are getting bigger and enjoy riding their own bikes, we’ve started a new family tradition of getting out on two wheels as often as possible.
Of course, we all know that doing things with kids requires gear. When it was just the two of us, one or both could wear a small backpack and we were good to go. Now we have things like picnic supplies, outdoor toys (like Frisbees, balls, bubbles, you name it), and backup clothing for inclement weather. Basically, we have to cover all our bases, and that requires much more than a single backpack.
The Burley Nomad bike cargo trailer is one of my newest favorite things, because it has made family biking trips a breeze! The Nomad is a lightweight trailer, weighing in at only 15 lbs. It’s incredibly sturdy and it’s simple to hook it up to your bike. It has a fully enclosed compartment that holds so much stuff, and it can be used with an included divider to make two compartments. I was seriously surprised how much we managed to fit in there. The interior compartment also features several little pockets, which is one of my favorite features. Sometimes you need quick access to little things, like a first aid kit, flashlight, or water bottle. The smaller pockets allow us to easily get to them, and prevent them from rolling around inside the larger compartment. The cover is removable, so you can even pull taller gear if needed. The Nomad has a black base and a yellow waterproof cover; I really like the fact that the bright yellow top does double duty as a road safety feature.
The Burley Nomad holds up to 100 lbs. of gear. Do remember that you’ll be pedaling with that extra weight. I don’t think we’ve packed 100 lbs. yet, and I haven’t had any problem pulling too much weight. I could see that happening if we overload the trailer, but we try to be conscious of what we’re putting in the cargo. I should note that my husband is much stronger than me, and he hasn’t noticed a difference when pulling the trailer. The ride is still as smooth as ever!
When your trip is finished and the family’s bikes are in the garage, the Burley Nomad easily flattens down and folds up for storage. The wheels are removable, and once you’ve folded in the sides it’s really quite small. I love that we can pack this for a vacation if we plan to take our bikes along with us, and it takes up little room in our garage.
I love this trailer, and if your family enjoys biking, you should definitely take a closer look at the Burley Nomad. Make sure to visit Burley.com, where you can learn more about the Nomad, purchase the trailer online, or find a retailer near you to see it in action.

I never could ride a bike while wearing a backpack. It’s too uncomfortable and doesn’t stay in place.
My kids are just starting to be able to ride their bikes for real distances. I’d love one of these for our weekend trips.
This would be a great idea to have on love bike trips, especially with kids.
I actually know someone who could seriously use this bike trailer. I will be passing on the info. I like how it has a cover to protect everything inside.

That is such a cool idea! I’ve always heard people say they were going to do things like bike to work or the store to get in more exercise, and I always thought to myself, “But… how are you going to carry anything?” I guess this is how!

This is literally perfect for a little picnic away at the park! And that’s great that the ride is still smooth and it’s easy to pull!
That is handy. What a great way to store your things while you’re on the go.
Such a great idea! Especially for long bike rides.
That’s a good idea. Especially when you have kids. You never know what you may need.
