Build & Imagine: The Fun of a Dollhouse with the Enrichment of a Construction Toy
We’re featuring some of our favorite new toys this holiday season, and I have another special one for you today! But before I get into the juicy details, let’s talk for a moment about toys for boys and girls.
I don’t know about you, but as my kids get older I find myself getting more frustrated when I see toys that are gendered specifically for girls or boys. You’ve probably noticed this: more often than not, when a toy set featuring STEM or building activities is marketed for girls, it’s pink. It’s the same exact toy marketed for boys, but they’ve painted it pink. Maybe I missed the memo that girls should only play with pink toys, or that girls don’t enjoy STEM topics unless they’re shrouded in a pink veil. Call me crazy, but I think that can be harmful and I’m much more receptive to companies producing gender-neutral toys that don’t paint kids into a pink (or blue) corner.
With that out in the open, it should come as no surprise that I love finding toys made for kids – they don’t have to paint them blue or pink or slap something on the label that sets it apart for one gender.
One such toy company dedicated to creating building sets that are fun and accessible for all kids is Build & Imagine, makers of the award-winning Malia’s House magnetic dollhouse. They feature a full line-up of building sets alongside Malia’s House, all of which can easily be enjoyed by any child.
We were excited to receive the Malia’s House set, and my kids (both girl and boy) are loving it. The set includes 58 pieces (Malia and Skyler wooden dress-up dolls, 16 dual-sided StoryWall building panels, and 40 magnetic accessories).
There are so many building possibilities, and this actually goes beyond STEM – it falls more under STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). It really runs the gamut. The house can be built and re-built in any design that suits your kids at that moment; when they get tired of it, the magnetic pieces are easily reassembled into a different layout. In addition to the house, kids are also building stories, walking their dress-up doll characters through fun activities like tending to a vegetable garden, making music videos, and playing in the pool.
Build & Imagine building sets come in a variety of options that all kids will love:
- Malia’s House
- Pet Portrait Studio
- Fairytale Theater
- Marine Rescue Center
- Day at the Beach
- Draw and Build Dollhouse
- Fins & Fur Collection
- Coastal Community Collection
- Creativity Castle
Each set features its own unique theme, different dress-up dolls (both girls and boys), and endless options for fun. The only limit is your child’s imagination!
We’re officially smitten with Malia’s House and the entire Build & Imagine line. Their mission is awesome and their toys are incredibly fun, so that’s an A+ in my book! So much fun!! I love all the color and design on the different panels!! I love the ability to change it up how you like it!
Oh these look like so much fun, makes me wish I was a kid again. Who am I kidding I would still play with it with my grandchild.
(Build & Imagine: The Fun of a Dollhouse with the Enrichment of a Construction Toy) This is really nice to help the little ones learn to use their imaginations a lot more. This is one thing that I have noticed our three year old grandson doing a lot of lately when he is playing with his toys.
That looks like so much fun to build and then play with! It’s so creative!
I’ve never seen any like Build & Imagine, it looks like so much fun. My grandchildren would get so much imaginative play out of these kind of toys. I love STEM and now STEAM products.
