Breathe Easily with a Sanvic Pulsatile Nasal Irrigator
Some time in my mid-20s, I developed seasonal allergies. I am allergic to all of the seasons. And dust. And cats. And dogs. I think you get the idea. Medications were prescribed, unpleasant side effects were experienced, symptoms were not relieved. For a long time, I mostly just suffered through it and complained a lot. Then I discovered the joys of nasal irrigation! Seriously, rinsing my nasal cavity with a saline salution has made a huge difference.
I’m not sure how I first discovered the neti pot, but I can tell you it wasn’t on Oprah. Regardless, I found that using one to flush out my nasal passages does wonders for relieving the sinus congestion and pressure that my allergies cause. Not only can I breathe more easily now, but I swear I hardly even get colds anymore. Oh, and I can’t describe how helpful it was when I was pregnant. I don’t think I would have been able to breathe at all without one. So yes, I’m most definitely a fan of nasal irrigation, and with the help of Sanvic, I just stepped up my game.
The Sanvic Pulsatile Nasal Irrigator looks fancy, but it’s really very easy to use:
- Warm two cups of water. (I use distilled.)
- Mix in one saline packet until dissolved. (A bag of 20 is included with the system.)
- Pour the solution into the reservoir.
- Attach your own personal tip.
- Slide the gray button up to start the flow of water.
- Get irrigating!
Detailed instructions on the entire process are included with the unit. They even give you an Instruction and Procedure Flow Chart that clearly illustrates every step in the process from plugging it in to cleaning it up.
What I love about this system is that you can control the water pressure. You have four levels of pressure to choose from depending on your needs.
I usually go with one of the middle levels, but they all feel comfortable to me. I use the lower setting for my routine rinsing, but I’ll choose the higher one when I’m trying to ward off illness. Another feature that makes this system unique is that you have the option of getting a tip that is specifically designed for children. The children’s irrigator tip has holes, which causes the saline to enter and drain from the same nostril. It’s a great way to introduce young kids to irrigation, and once they’ve mastered it, they can upgrade to the regular tip. With the kids starting school soon, I’m very open to the idea of something that might help them avoid getting sick or at least shorten the duration of any cold they might catch.
Tips are available in a variety of colors so that everyone in the family can have his/her own and not get them mixed up. You really do want your own tip to avoid cross-contamination. My husband and I are close, but I don’t want to share my nose washing tip with him. Sorry honey.
With the Pulsatile Nasal Irrigator, I feel like I’m giving my sinuses the luxury treatment. The most important difference between this and what I had been using is that the gentle, customizable, pulsating stream of saline that this system provides cleans more effectively than the steady stream of my neti pot. I also find that I don’t have to perform sink acrobatics to get the solution where it needs to go, and I end up making less of a mess. If you suffer from sinus problems, you should discuss them with your doctor first, but he’ll probably agree that this can help you. Mine did!
If you’d like to try it for yourself, the Sanvic Pulsatile Nasal Irrigator and it’s accessories can be purchased at Sanvic.com.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

I’m always terrified to stick anything in my nose, but my sinuses would probably appreciate this.
This looks great, I definitely could have used it when I was pregnant too. I love that more than one person can use it.
Wow, I’ve never seen a product quite like this before. I’m a bit nervous about sticking things up my nose (nightmares of crayons up there as a kid maybe?!) but this doesn’t look too bad 🙂
I’ve heard of these, but haven’t heard a personal experience story. Great post!

It looks like a sort of high tech Neti pot. It might be awesome, but I just can’t bring myself to flush my sinuses out. The water up the nose thing triggers a “fear of drowning” response. (For non-intensely claustrophobic folk, though, like my husband, it would probably be phenomenal.)

Woah, this looks like a great product and I have horrible seasonal allergies and dust allergies. And totally looks less invasive than a Neti pot or nasal sprays.
This will be so handy with cold and flu season coming!
