Alpha Hydrox 10% Enhanced Lotion Review
Wrinkles. No one wants them, and I think a lot of us have tried various products to prevent them from developing or to diminish the ones that have already cropped up. There are so many anti-wrinkle options out there with such a wide range of price tags; it can be confusing trying to figure out which one to use. I’d love to have a product that will keep those crows feet in check and give me the smooth skin I had before my age started to catch up on me, wouldn’t you?
Alpha Hydrox to the rescue! Have you heard of this brand before? I’ve used their Foaming Face Wash and have always been happy with how well it cleaned my face without making it feel too dry. Now I can say I’m also a fan of their Enhanced Lotion. This little bottle of wonder contains 10% Glycolic Alpha-Hydroxy Acid (AHA) for exfoliating and giving your skin a brighter, fresher look and feel.
For those of you not already familiar with AHAs, they gently remove those unfriendly dead skin cells and encourage cellular turnover. What does this really mean? It means fewer and softer lines and wrinkles. It means more even skin tone. It means a very happy Melanie.
The Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion is a creamy yet surprisingly light lotion that’s very easy to use: wash your face, apply Enhanced Lotion, and then follow up with a moisturizer. As with any product containing glycolic acid, you’ll want to make sure you don’t forget your sunscreen if you plan to go outside. But you were going to do that anyway, right?
According to the bottle, it’s normal to have some slight tingling or redness at first, but I didn’t experience either of those things–probably because I’ve used AHAs before. I did have a little extra peeling around my nose and chin, but it only lasted a few days, and since winter does that to me anyway, I can’t even say for sure it had anything to do with this product.
Now that I’ve been using this for a few weeks, my skin is softer and smoother than ever! The few darker spots I had as a result of past run-ins with the pimple monster have already lightened up considerably. I can’t wait to see what else this lotion will do for me after I’ve put some more time in with it. And wrinkles? Well, I’m not all that wrinkly yet, but the fine lines have definitely been creeping up on me. Now I feel a lot more confident about fighting those evil things. Again, we have a happy Melanie.
