A Ten-Year-Old’s Take On the State Fair Meadowlands
My family and I visited the State Fair Meadowlands at MetLife Stadium in NJ on Monday, and we all loved it! There are so many things to do, like roller coasters, free shows, and tons of food.
The first thing we did was watch a pig race. The pigs were so cute and they made us laugh. I was picked to cheer for one of the pigs, and he won, which meant I won too! My prizes were a free smoothie, a checkered flag, a gold medal, and a funny poster of one of the pigs. I was so surprised.
My family loves magic, so we went to see Jay Mattioli the magician next. (He was on America’s Got Talent.) He blew our minds when he made himself levitate and cut himself in half. He made a knot on a string move, and then he threw it into the audience and my brother caught it. He got huge applause.
After that, we saw the hypnotist Steve Bayner. He made people fall asleep and do silly things. Some of the volunteers were nervous. I know I would be too, but I had fun watching. It was very funny. I laughed so hard when one guy yelled out that he likes to wear women’s lingerie!
I think the most amazing show was Cycle Circus Live. They had BMX bikes and motorcycles that did crazy tricks like flips in the air and riding in a round cage called the Globe of Death. They made it look like they were flying! You can see one of the tricks if you watch my mom’s video on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/BzLgZ5ShqHQ/. After the show, we got to meet some of the riders.
With all the free shows, you will never get bored at the fair, but they also have a lot of rides. They have tall roller coasters, two ferris wheels, and a carousel with two floors. There are so many fun house mirror mazes too. It’s easy to get trapped inside! We especially loved the Gravitron and the Thunderbolt. My mother was excited to see that they had the Enterprise ride that she used to like at Great Adventure.
And we ate until we almost got sick!
We ate giant cheese sticks, pizza, arepas, and corn dogs, and then we still had dessert. My brother and I had fried Oreos and Twinkies for the first time, and they were so yummy. I couldn’t believe how much food there was.
This was the first time my brother and I had ever been to the State Fair Meadowlands, and we had so much fun. I wish we could go every day!
