A Full Day of Family Fun at Casino Pier & Breakwater Beach in Seaside Heights, NJ + Giveaway
For spectacular Jersey Shore fun, spend a day riding and sliding at Casino Pier & Breakwater Beach in Seaside Heights, NJ! As a Casino Pier Breakwater Beach #partner for the day, I was provided with vouchers for my visit. All opinions are my own.
A NJ summer just wouldn’t be a NJ summer without time spent “down the shore”. There’s the beach, of course, but my fondest childhood memories are of playing boardwalk games, riding the Tilt-a-Whirl, and pigging out on waffles and ice cream. Let’s be honest: I’m still pretty fond of those things. Now that I’m older with children of my own, one of my great joys is sharing those same experiences with them, and there’s no better place than Casino Pier & Breakwater Beach in Seaside Heights, NJ.
Our big day of fun began at Breakwater Beach Water Park. We found some chairs on which to plant our belongings, and then the kids took off for The Perfect Storm. It’s basically a huge playground where kids and adults can splash, slide, and explore all of the interesting ways to have water sprayed or dumped on them.
Tearing the kids away from that was no easy task, but we eventually moved on to the bigger, more daring slides, like Patriot’s Plunge.
Six can slide down at once in a race to the finish line. The kids loved competing with each other.
My personal favorite was Two If By Sea, which is actually made up of two different slides, each with its own surprise features.
Ride them alone or grab a double tube and share the thrills with a friend! We did these two slides over, and over, and over again. The lines weren’t bad at all, so as soon as we reached the end, we got right back into line to do it again.
We kept ourselves pretty busy with those and the other slides at Breakwater Beach, but we took a few breaks to hang out in the Wave Pool.
When the waves weren’t going, it was a nice place to relax and keep cool, and when the waves were on, we had a blast riding them. Wave pools just never get old.
While we’re definitely a family who loves sliding, we always appreciate a good Lazy River. This one gives you a nice tour of the park, opportunities to play with colorful fish, and you might even experience an unexpected blast from a water cannon. I’d say we did at least 5 or 6 trips!
Before we knew it, it was closing time at Breakwater Beach. After gathering our stuff and using the changing rooms, we were off to spend the night at Casino Pier.
I love roller coasters, so there was no way I was missing a chance to ride Hydrus. My kids couldn’t be convinced to try it, but they happily rooted me on from the sidelines.
I think I screamed from the moment we took the 97° drop until we reached the end of the 1500-foot track, and I loved every second of it.
Did you know that the Casino Pier Arcade is home to a hand-carved carousel that’s over 100 years old? It’s a thing of beauty, and the music from the authentic band organ makes it even more enchanting. Don’t miss taking a ride on this charming attraction.
Casino Pier offers all the classics like the carousel above, a ferris wheel, Tilt-a-Whirl, bumper cars, and even Music Express (always a favorite!). They also have a few seriously thrilling rides, like the Super Storm that I somehow worked up the courage to try.
You spin while you swing through a 360° revolution that at one point has you hovering over the ocean. It’s invigorating to say the least, and if you like thrill rides, this one won’t disappoint you–but I recommend not doing this right after you eat!
Speaking of food, we were treated to free, live music when we stopped for an ice cream break.
A live show from The Boardwalk Buddies was an unexpected delight, and it might have been my favorite part of the night.
In the midst of all of this riding and snacking, we also managed to fit in a few boardwalk games!
Those were just some highlights of our incredibly fun trip to Seaside last week. Our entire day, from 9 AM until midnight, was spent at Casino Pier and Breakwater Beach, and there were still some things we didn’t get to do. I guess we’ll have to plan a return visit before the season is over!
It’s perfect for a day trip, but there is certainly enough to keep you busy if you want to stay overnight–especially if you add in some time on the actual beach. Visit CasinoPierNJ.com for more information on attractions, dining, and special events.
