Tasty Gluten-Free Pizza from Smart Flour Foods + Giveaway
Thank you to Smart Flour Foods for providing the products and prizes in featured in this post. All opinions expressed here are my own.
It’s not difficult to find foods that are quick and easy, or even pre-made. It gets a little harder to find those foods that also taste good. When you add in dietary restrictions, well, the options are few and far between. One of the first things I think about when I’m looking for quick foods is frozen pizza. You know how much I like pizza, and my kids have inherited my pizza genes, so I’m always on the lookout for an easy way to have pizza at home without sacrificing taste, texture, or our health. If I can do that without slaving away over homemade crusts, that’s even better!
If you aren’t familiar with Smart Flour Foods, take note: they have some of the best frozen pizzas I’ve eaten. They’re gluten-free and made with ancient grains (sorghum, amaranth, and teff). The taste is delicious – you would never guess that these are gluten-free! There’s nothing weird or unpleasant about the texture of the crust like you get with some gluten-free products. It’s just crispy enough, just chewy enough, and just delicious enough. Additionally, the cheese on these pizzas comes from cows that are not treated with rBST (a bovine growth hormone), which makes me especially happy. They also happen to be free of egg, soy, and rice, in case those are concerns for you.
I tried the Classic Cheese Pizza, Garden Margherita Pizza, and Chicken Sausage Pizza. They’re all so good, I honestly can’t pin down a favorite one. I had a surprisingly easy time introducing my children to the Chicken Sausage pizza. Up until now, they’ve pretty much stuck to a regular cheese, white, or ziti pizza, but they agreed to give this one a shot, and it was a hit. The sausage is flavorful enough to make the pizza more interesting but not so much that it overwhelmed them. In the end, we devoured all three flavors. Okay, I finished the Margerherita Pizza all by myself, but I couldn’t help it. It was just too easy to eat! Each pizza is 2 servings, but an adult can easily eat one pizza. One half of a pizza with a side of veggies was perfect for the kids’ dinner.
The only thing I would change about Smart Flour Foods pizzas is the sugar. You know I’m very watchful of the amount of sugar in our foods, and I think the taste of these pizzas is slightly sweet. If you have any sugar dietary restrictions, make sure to check the labels. Otherwise, these pizzas are definitely a win. If I had any left, I’d be eating one right now. (I see a trip to Shop Rite in my near future.)
I’ve mentioned the Moms Meet WOW Summit in San Diego already, and I want to point out that Smart Flour Foods will be there! They will be meeting with moms and mom bloggers on Friday and Saturday, talking about everything from healthy indulgences to social media tips. Smart Flour Foods will also team up with fitness guru and comedian Jill Anenberg Lawrence to lead two education sessions called Get Smarter About Food and Fitness. There will be plenty of pizzas for everyone to try, so I hope to see you there and share a pizza!
