Support Our Troops with Marie Callender’s Comforts From Home Project

Do you remember when we featured Marie Callender’s awesome Comforts from Home Project last fall? We’re excited to tell you they’re doing it again this year, and we’re so happy to be part of it. If you’re not familiar with Comforts from Home, let me tell you about it!
Firstly, I’m sure you’re familiar with the Marie Callender’s brand of homemade frozen meals and desserts. They taste great, and Marie’s is known for a commitment to high-quality ingredients and signature special touches that make them the obvious choice for a meal that’s easy, delicious, and true comfort food! Like last fall, Marie’s will kick off the Comforts from Home Project, which helps bring the comforts of home to those who protect our home: the men and women of the United States military. Marie’s will also partner with the USO to support USO Operation Celebration, which is a program that shares some of home’s comforts with troops to help them celebrate holidays year round. From Valentine’s Day to Thanksgiving and Christmas, they will send comfort and cheer to troops both here and abroad.
We think this project is so amazing. Everyone knows what it’s like to get home after a hard day, to put on cozy clothes, eat a hot, comforting meal, and spend a relaxing evening with your family. There is nothing like having those comforts and knowing they will always be waiting for us at the end of the day. Our troops, unfortunately, don’t have that constant comfort. They are away from their own homes to protect the homes of others, and we are happy to do anything we can to bring some of those comforts from home to them, wherever they are.
How can you take part?
First, every time you purchase a specially-marked Marie Callender’s meal, you can enter the code online and Marie’s will donate 50¢ to USO Operation Celebration.
Second, you can have fun with a Facebook challenge! Submit your own photos showing what home means to you in support of the USO, using hashtag #comfortsfromhome. For every photo received, Scripps Network will donate $1 to the USO (up to $10,000). Some lucky users may even have their photos used on air for the following shows:
• Kitchen Crashers on DIYNetwork & HGTV, airing November 9th and 14th
• Hello/Goodbye on Travel Channel, airing November 10th
• Guy’s Grocery Games on Food Network & Cooking Channel, airing December 14th and 19th
We hope you’ll join us in supporting our troops and bringing them some comforts of home!
